  • 360pi: Meeting Amazon prices doesn’t guarantee success

    Ottawa, Canada - Trying to stay competitive with Amazon.com on price may not be the best path to success for department store and discount retailers. According to pricing analysis of 1,000-plus household goods based on Amazon’s own assortment relative to Kohl’s, Walmart, Target and Macy’s conducted by 360pi and Retail Systems Research from March-June 2014, Kohl’s was consistently 30%-60% above Amazon’s pricing for this sample, but also reported the healthiest financials of the group.

  • The Pantry deploys AccuStore to reduce costs

    Clearwater, Fla. – AccuStore, a provider of site profiling technology and services, announced The Pantry, a chain of 1,500 plus convenience stores, has licensed AccuStore’s site profile management platform with plans to reduce operating costs and improve execution.

    New York - Saks Fifth Avenue is launching a user-generated content hub on Saks.com called #SaksStyle. Created by Curalate on its Fanreel image integration platform, #SaksStyle will function as a daily go-to guide for fashion inspiration created solely by Saks customers, highlighting products purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue locations nationwide and online.

  • Chute Gerdeman names Brian Shafley as CEO, expands exec team

  • Office Depot receives office supplies contract from Corporate United

    Boca Raton, Fla. - Office Depot Inc. has been awarded a $100 million-plus contract for office supplies and other office solutions by Corporate United following a competitive solicitation process. The new agreement with Office Depot includes office supplies, furniture, technology products and copy and print services provided at significant discounts and savings to eligible member companies.

  • Survey: Retail execs embrace omnichannel

    New York -- Looking to better respond to increasingly online and mobile customers, 70% of retail executives said their organizations have adopted an omnichannel strategy to link the consumer's in-store experience with the company's website, mobile device application and social media platforms. This strategy, according to the 2014 Retail Outlook Survey of 100 retail executives by KPMG LLP, will help create a seamless shopping experience for the consumer.

  • Jos. A. Bank terminates Jim’s Formal Wear tux agreement

    Fremont, Calif. - Jos. A. Bank has reached an early termination agreement with Jim's Formal Wear, effective Dec. 31. The company will record a one-time charge of $4.5 million in its fiscal 2014 third quarter in connection with early termination of this contract to supply tuxedo rental inventory and logistics.

  • Staples launches omnichannel updates including Visa Checkout

    Framingham, Mass. – Staples has released a series of enhancements to its omnichannel experience. The enhancements include the new Visa Checkout digital payment service, the ability to buy products online and pick them up in-store within hours, new in-store kiosks, and, Staples’ first iPad app.
