  • Starbucks ramping up Southeast Asia growth with 200 stores in four years

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company reaffirmed its commitment to accelerate growth in Southeast Asia, announcing plans to open 100 stores in Indonesia over the next three years and another 100 stores in the Philippines over the next four years.

    Starbucks entered Southeast Asia in 1996 with its first store in Singapore. The company currently operates more than 700 stores across six countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and, most recently, Vietnam.

  • Fairway Market grocery chain to go public

    New York -- New York City-based supermarket chain Fairway Market is going public. The company said in a regulatory filing Thursday that it expects its stock to price in the range of $10 to $12 per share as it looked to raise as much as $164 million.

    Fairway operates 12 locations in the greater New York City metro area and in on track to open a store this summer in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood and one in Nanuet, N.Y, in the fall.
     

  • Walgreens clinics broaden services to include chronic conditions

    Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreen Co. said Thursday that its in-store Take Care Clinics have expanded the scope of healthcare services offered beyond treating minor ailments like sinus infections to include assessment, treatment and management for chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, asthma and others, as well as additional preventive health services.

    The new services are now available at the more than 330 Take Care Clinics located at select Walgreens (excludes clinics in Missouri).

  • New pet supply to open at Pine Ridge Crossing

    Naples, Fla. -- Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group said that Earthwise Pet Supply has leased 3,020 sq. ft. at Pine Ridge Crossing, located in Naples, Fla.

    The landlord is KRG Pine Ridge.

     

  • MC Sports to open at Ohio Valley Mall

    St. Clairsville, Ohio -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said Wednesday that MC Sports will debut in the area with a new store at Cafaro’s Ohio Valley Mall, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, in July.

    The new store will be located next to Sears, occupying nearly 23,000 sq. ft. of retail space.

     

  • Jamestown acquires San Luis Obispo retail, office portfolio

    San Francisco -- Jamestown said Wednesday it has acquired a real estate portfolio in downtown San Luis Obispo, Calif., comprised of 86% retail and 14% office space in open-air, multi-story settings.

    The retail component, purchased from Copeland Properties, consists of seven assets, the most notable being Court Street Centre and Downtown Centre, and totals approximately 195,000 sq. ft. The portfolio also includes 28,000 sq. ft. of office space in three separate properties.

  • Laura Pomerantz Real Estate makes Manhattan debut

    New York -- Real estate industry veteran Laura Pomerantz said Monday she has launched a new firm, Laura Pomerantz Real Estate, focused on retail and office real estate transactions.

    “As the retail landscape continues to evolve and companies re-evaluate their real estate portfolios, we look forward to working closely with our clients to develop both domestic and global real estate strategies that best facilitate growth and defines their brands,” said Pomerantz, founder and president, New York City-based Laura Pomerantz Real Estate.

  • Best Buy to open in-store Samsung shops

    Richardson, Texas -- Samsung Electronics and Best Buy Co. have entered into a partnership to install Samsung in-store shops in more than 1,400 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores across the U.S. beginning this month.

    By early May, 900 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores will feature the “Samsung Experience Shop,” with the remainder launching by early summer.
