  • LG introduces allergy-friendly washer

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — LG Electronics USA has launched what it claims is the industry's first top-load washer with steam technology certified "asthma and allergy friendly" by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). 

    In addition, the new high-efficiency top-load washer is designed to deliver superior high-efficiency performance, offering uniquely gentle but deep cleaning capabilities, with the added benefit of odor reduction, the company said. 

  • Newell Rubbermaid Q4 sales beat expectations

    ATLANTA — Newell Rubbermaid reported that net sales in the fourth quarter were $1.52 billion, an increase of 1.6% compared with the prior year. Sales growth was largely attributable to the tools, baby and parenting and writing segments and to robust growth in Latin America, the company said.

  • Shopko completes conversion of acquired Pamida Stores

    Green Bay, Wis. -- Shopko announced it has completed the conversion of 163 Pamida stores making it one of the largest U.S. retailers focused on serving smaller and rural communities. It was a year ago that Shopko and Pamida first announced their intent to merge the two companies and convert the existing Pamida locations to the Shopko Hometown store format. One year later, the conversion of the last group of Pamida stores is now complete with the final 36 stores celebrating their official grand openings as Shopko Hometown.

    Sunrise, Fla. -- Ikea on Wednesday officially plugged-in the solar energy system installed at its store in City of Sunrise, Fla. It is the largest solar installation in South Florida and, when combined with Ikea projects already completed atop stores in Orlando and Tampa, will make Ikea the state’s largest non-utility solar owner.
