  • Sears Appliance & Hardware rolls out smaller model in Dallas

    The opening of a new Sears Appliance & Hardware store in Dallas, Texas, marks two milestones for the hardware subsidiary operating under Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores. It is the debut of the smaller, neighborhood model that will become a company standard for all new locations and the first brand new Sears Appliance & Hardware store to open in the past 10 years.

  • Q2 same-store sales drop at Hhgregg

    A decrease in same-store sales in the consumer electronics and computing and wireless categories at Hhgregg, partially offset by an increase in the appliance and home products categories, resulted in a comparable-store sales decrease of 6.2% for the second quarter ended Sept. 30.

    The appliance category comparable-store sales increase was driven by an increase in the average selling price. The home products category comparable-store sales increase was primarily a result of sales from the introduction of furniture and fitness equipment.

  • Sam’s Club relocates to Raymore from Grandview

    Raymore, Mo. — Sam’s Club has opened its newest club in Raymore, Mo. Relocated from Grandview, the new 136,000-sq.-ft. warehouse club will anchor the Raymore Galleria.

    The new club will feature a Fresh Bakery, Tire and Battery Center, Optical Center, Pharmacy, Hearing Aid Center, Café and Fuel Station.

    Hayward, Calif. -- Posiflex’s new TX4200E is a small industrial PC multipurpose controller that runs virtually any software to drive digital signage, kitchen control configurations, PC replacement, surveillance systems, point-of-purchase displays, POS and service, and wired or wireless vending or kiosk applications.

  • Fortune Brands adds former Goodyear exec to leadership team

    Fortune Brands Home & Security, a leading home and security products company, has named Jason Baab as VP of mergers and acquisitions. His role will support the company’s growth strategy that includes expanding its portfolio.

    The company also promoted Elif Sagsen-Ercel to VP of strategy. Baab and Sagsen-Ercel will report to Chuck Elias who was elected by FBHS earlier this year as SVP of strategy and corporate development.

  • Tractor Supply Co. enters Wyoming market in Rawlins

    Brentwood, Tenn. — Tractor Supply Co. has announced the opening of its first store in Wyoming. The new store marks Tractor Supply’s continuing expansion in the Western U.S.

    The new store in Rawlins opened for business on October 19 and will hold a grand opening event on Oct.26. As of Sept. 28, Tractor Supply operated 1,245 stores in 47 states.
     

  • Newell Rubbermaid wins with 3 of 5 businesses

    New product launches in key categories and strong marketing helped Newell Rubbermaid gain market share during the company’s third quarter.

    The leading consumer goods company said sales for the period ended September 30, grew a modest 2.1% to $1.5 billion while net income, aided by the sale of the company’s hardware business, increased to $193.3 million, or 66 cents a share, from $108.3 million, or 37 cents a share.

  • GrowLife to open Santa Rosa store

    Woodland Hills, Calif. — GrowLife has announced the opening of its seventh store in Santa Rosa, Calif., on Oct. 25.

    GrowLife Hydroponics operates in the legal cannabis industry with online and brick-and-mortar stores.
