  • Checkpoint Systems names new director

    THOROFARE, N.J. — Checkpoint Systems, a provider of shrink protection solutions, has named Marc Giles to its board of directors, effective immediately.

    Giles spent most of his career with industrial technology companies beginning in sales and marketing before expanding into management positions of increasing responsibility and global reach. In 2000, he was recruited by Gerber Scientific, Inc. to serve as president of its Gerber Technology division.

  • Obama names Walmart Foundation president to budget post

    Washington, D.C. -- According to published reports, President Obama will nominate Walmart Foundation president Sylvia Mathews Burwell as director of the Office of Management and Budget.

  • Divaris names Lowe’s exec as VP in Roanoke office

    Virginia Beach, Va. -- Divaris Real Estate announced that Sam McCoy has been appointed VP of the company’s new regional office in Roanoke, Va.

    McCoy is charged with strategic planning, acquisition, site development, sales and leasing of commercial properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with an emphasis on the southwest Virginia markets.

    Previously, McCoy was director of real estate at Lowe’s Cos., responsible for the development of new Lowe’s Home Improvement store sites in the Mid-Atlantic region.

     

  • Target Canada opens three pilot stores

    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — As Target's Canadian debut draws near, the company announced that it is opening three pilot stores in Ontario on March 5 at Stone Road in Guelph, Milton Mall Shopping Centre in Milton and Gates of Fergus in Fergus. The three pilot stores are the first Target locations to open in Canada, and the first of 124 Target stores that will open across the country throughout 2013.

  • Trademark Property unveils new look, new location

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Trademark Property announced that it has unveiled a new logo, corporate office and website as part of its 20-year anniversary.

    On Feb. 4, the company moved into a new corporate office located in the River Plaza office building, part of Trademark’s WestBend mixed-use development in Fort Worth.  In addition, a new, more digital- friendly logo is being introduced along with new website to better reflect Trademark’s ever-changing and dynamic business.

  • Former Michaels CEO to head Tuesday Morning on interim basis

    DALLAS — Tuesday Morning has named former Michaels Stores president and CEO, Michael Rouleau as its interim CEO.

    In his role as interim CEO, Rouleau will manage the company's day-to-day operations through the retention of a new CEO. He will continue to serve on the company's board of directors, which he joined in November 2012.

  • Marketing firm strengthens senior management team

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — DubLi, a global marketing company that provides consumers around the world with a variety of innovative, online shopping and entertainment opportunities, announced that it has strengthened its senior management team with the appointments of Eric Nelson to CFO, Ricardo Daglio to chief technology officer and Thomas Sikora to chief product officer.

  • Apparel retailer reduces 2013 growth plan

    Following a year of rapid expansion, specialty apparel retailer Body Central said it will pare new store growth to 25 units in 2013 from 39 openings last year.

    Body Central opened 13 stores during the fourth quarter to end the year with 276 units operating under the Body Central and Body Shop banners which, according to the company, target women in their late teens and twenties from diverse cultural backgrounds who seek the latest fashions and a flattering fit.
