  • NRF: Retailers add 13, 500 jobs in November

    Washington, D.C. – The National Retail Federation estimated that the retail industry added 13,500 jobs in November, and 268,500 year-over-year.

    The Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Situation report showed that November total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 203,000, with the unemployment rate at 7%.

  • Neiman Marcus exec headed to online luxury consignment site

    San Francisco -- The RealReal, a leader in online luxury consignment, announced the appointment of Ann Paolini to its leadership team as executive VP of sales. She is joining The RealReal after spending 25 years at Neiman Marcus as a senior executive, and will be responsible for the RealReal's sales team and consignor relations.

  • Newell Rubbermaid adds global exec to leadership team

    Newell Rubbermaid has named Paula S. Larson as EVP and chief human resources officer, effective Dec. 16. She succeeds James M. Sweet, who is retiring after nearly a decade of leading the company’s transformation efforts.

  • Kroger Q3 profit falls but in line with Street; revenue up 3.2%

    Cincinnati – Kroger Co. reported a lower third-quarter profit that matched Wall Street's view. Net income fell to $299 million from $317 million a year earlier, partly on the costs from the pending acquisition of Harris Teeter.

  • Stuart Weitzman appoints new global president

    Stuart Weitzman Holdings has named François Kress as the company’s global president.

    In this newly created position, Kress will oversee all aspects of the global retail and wholesale business plus take on the role of strategic leader for new initiatives and brand extensions. He will report directly to Wayne Kulkin, CEO, and will be based out of international headquarters in New York City.

  • Kellwood Company appoints new CEO

    Kellwood Company, a leading apparel manufacturer and marketer owned by affiliates of Sun Capital Partners, has elevated Lynn Shanahan to the position of CEO of Kellwood Company, following the initial public offering of Vince, completed Nov. 27.

  • Kenco appoints SVP of transportation services

    Kenco, a leading provider of integrated logistics solutions, real estate services and material handling equipment, has named Kevin S. Fletcher as SVP of Kenco Transportation Services.
     
    In addition to his transportation-leadership responsibilities, Fletcher will be responsible for account management, business development and strategic planning.
     

  • Product safety group gets new chairman

    Robert Adler was named acting chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to fill a position vacated by former chairman Inez Tenenbaum.

    Adler joined the CPSC, an agency that exerts tremendous influence over the consumer packaged goods and retail industries, in 2009 when he was appointed by president Barack Obama. Prior to his appointment Adler served on the Obama Transition Team and and co-authored a report on the CPSC for the administration.
