  • Rite Aid names group VP, real estate

    Camp Hill, Pa. -- Rite Aid Corporation announced t that Ray Payne, currently VP, real estate west coast, has been promoted to group VP, real estate. Payne succeeds Karen Smith, who retired last year after more than 35 years with the company.

    In his new position, Payne will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s real estate strategy nationwide, including establishing a pipeline of properties for new and relocated stores.

  • Sears Canada makes acting CEO permanent

    Toronto – The board of directors of Sears Canada Inc. has named Ronald D. Boire as president and CEO. Boire has served as the company's acting president and CEO since Oct. 15, 2014.

    Prior to his role with Sears Canada, Boire was executive VP, chief merchandising officer and president, Sears and Kmart Formats, Sears Holdings Corp. Prior to joining Sears Holdings in January 2012, Boire was president and CEO at Brookstone, a position he held from October 2009.

  • Restoration Hardware names former Twitter CFO to board

    Corte Madera, Calif. – Restoration Hardware Holdings Inc. (RH) has named Ali Rowghani to its board of directors. He will also serve on the board’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

  • Fry’s and Ralphs execs join grocery group’s board

    Vice presidents of merchandising at Fry’s Food Stores and Ralph’s and two other executives are the newest members of the board of the Western Association of Food Chains.

    The trade group said four new members were elected to its board at its annual meeting this month in LaQuinta, Ca. Joining the board are Monica Garnes, Vice President of Merchandising at Fry’s, Dennis Gibson, president of QFC Stores, Valerie Jabbar, Vice President of Merchandising at Ralphs and Rob McDougall, President and CEO of Gelson’s.

  • Bi-Lo taps veteran Australian retailer as CEO

    New York -- Bi-Lo Holdings, parent company of Bi-Lo, Harveys and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, has appointed veteran Australian retail executive Ian McLeod as president and CEO, effective March 2. He succeeds Randall Onstead, who will remain in place through March 2.

  • Macy’s outgrows California omnichannel facility

    Macy’s plans to quadruple the size of a central California distribution facility that has played a key role in the execution of the retailer’s omnichannel strategy.

    The company plans to relocate its West Sacramento, Calif., direct-to-consumer fulfillment center to a larger facility in a nearby location in Sacramento County to support continued sales growth driven by Macy's omnichannel strategy.

  • Starbucks names former Microsoft and Juniper exec as president, COO

    Seattle -- Starbucks Corp. has appointed Kevin Johnson as president and chief COO, effective March 1. He replaces the company's current COO, 23-year Starbucks veteran, Troy Alstead, who, as previously announced, will take a sabbatical beginning March 1. Over the next month, Alstead will work to immerse Johnson into his levels of responsibility as they work together to ensure a smooth transition.
     

  • DLC Management promotes leasing execs

    Tarrytown, N.Y. -- DLC Management Corporation announced the promotions of Adam Greenberg and Heather Moon from associate directors of leasing to directors of leasing for their respective regions.
     
    According to DLC, both Greenberg and Moon have demonstrated strong deal-making skills through the number of deals they have completed in any given year, problem-solving for key spaces/vacancies, and the execution of overall property business plans.
