  • Brown-Forman names managing director for Western Europe division

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Brown-Forman announced today the appointment of Lawson Whiting as managing director Western Europe, based in London, effective May 1.

  • PepsiCo names EVP government affairs

    PURCHASE, N.Y. -- PepsiCo has announced the appointment of Maura Abeln Smith to the position of EVP government affairs, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective May 5.  Smith will succeed Larry Thompson, who is retiring from the company to assume a teaching position at the University of Georgia Law School.

    Smith, who will report to PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi, will be responsible for the company's worldwide legal function and government affairs organization.

  • Trademark names senior leasing VP

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Trademark Property Co. said that Vince O’Toole has joined the company as senior VP leasing, effective March 7.
     
    O’Toole will lead the specialty store leasing efforts for Santa Fe Place mall in Santa Fe, N.M., and serve as the leasing team leader for Watters Creek in Allen, Texas.  Additionally, he will work on new business for Trademark.

    He joins Trademark from Cousins Properties, Atlanta.

  • Report: Borders plans to pay $8.3 million in bonuses

    New York City -- Borders Group, which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February and has announced plans to close about a third of its stores, said it plans to pay key employees as much as $8.3 million in incentives and retention bonuses, Bloomberg reported.

    The retailer asked a judge to approve its plan in a filing Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Courty in New York. Borders said it has historically compensated employees through incentives.

  • Delia's names two new board members

    NEW YORK -- Teen fashion retailer Delia's has announced the appointment of two shareholder representatives to its board of directors effective March 25. The two new directors are Michael Zimmerman, the founder and CEO of Prentice Capital Management, LP, and Mario Ciampi, the managing partner of Prentice Capital Management, LP. Zimmerman will also serve as a member of the corporate governance and nominating committee, and Ciampi will be a member of the compensation Committee.

  • Wal-Mart Stores establishes East Coast office in Atlanta

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores said it will open a new office in Atlanta, positioning the retailer to more effectively manage nearly 1,600 stores in 20 eastern U.S. states and allow it to focus on opportunities to grow its business in states such as New York.

    The new eastern business unit will be run by Rosalind Brewer, president of Walmart East and executive VP of Walmart U.S.

  • Cabela's names new board member

    SIDNEY, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. announced that Beth Pritchard has been appointed to its board of directors.

    “I am delighted that Beth has joined our Board,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s CEO. “Beth’s impressive retailing expertise, marketing knowledge and leadership experience will be invaluable as we continue to focus on our strategic initiatives and look to profitably expand our retail store count.”
