  • Fresh & Easy to open two stores in San Francisco this summer

    SAN FRANCISCO — Fresh & Easy has announced the opening dates for its first two stores in San Francisco.

    The retail chain said that the stores, which will open on June 22 and Aug. 24, will create more than 50 jobs. What's more, Fresh & Easy also invites area residents to nominate a local, nonprofit organization to receive a $1,000 donation for each new store opening. Based on the nominations from the neighborhood, store employees will select the winning charity.

  • Sears Holdings names head of tools unit

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. — Sears Holdings announced that Sam Solomon has joined the company as SVP and president of its tools business.  Solomon is responsible for developing and driving growth and profit opportunities for one of the company's cornerstone businesses, the company reported.  He was recently CEO and president of The Coleman Company Inc.  

  • Lowe's bolsters IT infrastructure

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe’s has announced plans to hire up to 300 information technology professionals, including 150 new positions. 

    Lowe's reported that positions are now open across all IT professions, including business analysis, engineering, communications network, ecommerce, application development, program management and project management. The positiobns will be based at Lowe’s corporate headquarters in Mooresville, N.C.

  • Rite Aid names group VP of construction

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has appointed David Kelly as group VP construction, the retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

    Kelly, who has worked in real estate and development for more than 25 years, will start work May 31 and will have overall responsibility for all store planning and construction services, in addition to having a role in various segmentation initiatives such as Wellness stores, value stores and co-branded Save-A-Lot Rite Aid stores, reporting directly SVP, CFO and chief administrative officer Frank Vitrano.

  • Sears CFO calls it quits

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. — Sears Holdings has named William Phelan as acting CFO, replacing Michael Collins, currently SVP and CFO, who resigned last week to pursue another opportunity, the company reported in an SEC filing.

    Collins will remain with the company until June 10 in order to ensure a smooth transition, Sears noted in the filing.

  • Former A&P executive joins Rite Aid

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has appointed David Kelly as group VP construction, the retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

  • Weitzman brings in investment exec

    Austin, Texas -- The Weitzman Group announced that Bradley Bailey has been named senior VP and director of investment sales for Central Texas and The Valley for The Weitzman Group.

    Bailey will work with Lance Morris, president of The Weitzman Group in Austin, and David Nicolson, president of Weitzman’s San Antonio office. 

    In this new position, Bailey will handle investment sales and marketing for retail and commercial properties. 

  • Former Staples exec to head marketing at Vistaprint

    VENLO, The Netherlands — Vistaprint N.V., a leading online provider of professional marketing products and services to micro businesses and the home, announced that Don LeBlanc will assume the role of chief marketing officer for Vistaprint's North American Business Unit. LeBlanc assumes the role vacated by Trynka Shineman, who was promoted to the position of president of Vistaprint's North American business unit earlier this year.
