  • MPI reports surge of new lease deals

    New York -- MPI has reported a significant increase in leasing volume within its core retail portfolio during the first four months of 2013 vs. the same period last year.

    As of May 1, MPI has executed 23 new lease deals, many with new to the market tenants, representing a total of 113,900 sq. ft. throughout its national retail portfolio.  

    On a year-over-year basis, the company has seen the number of new leases grow by 28%.
     

  • Sbarro plans 20 locations in Ontario, Canada

    Melville, N.Y. -- Sbarro is expanding its international growth with plans to open 20 eateries in Ontario, Canada. This announcement is the latest in a series of franchise agreements that have recently expanded Sbarro's presence across Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia and the Pacific.

  • ConAgra exec receives IFMA’s foodservice award

    CHICAGO — The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association honored ConAgra VP of strategic projects William J. Caskey with the trade association’s newly established Distinguished Foodservice Executive Award.

    Caskey received the award for his dedication to the foodservice industry and his service on the IFMA board of directors during the National Restaurant Association Show week in Chicago, Ill. 

  • Burger King expands delivery service to two new markets

    Miami -- Burger King Worldwide announced Thursday that it has expanded its meal delivery program to include Las Vegas and Sacramento, Calif.

    The BK Delivers program, which currently delivers meals to homes and offices in New York, Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., will now have six participating restaurants in Sacramento and eight more in Las Vegas implementing the service.

    “One of the strange ironies of the 2013 convention is that — despite more bookings, a sold-out convention and more activity than we’ve seen in years — the convention doesn’t feel as busy as it has in years past. I suspect this is largely because three of the biggest names in the industry, Macerich, Simon, and Westfield, don’t have booths at the convention center this year. Make no mistake, they are still here in Vegas — they have just moved over to Caesar’s Palace.
