  • Dunkin’ Donuts to enter United Kingdom with 50 locations in five years

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Donuts announced that it has signed agreements with two franchise groups to begin developing Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the United Kingdom. The two agreements call for the development of 50 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in Greater London over the next five years, with an initial focus on North London and East London.

  • Fractured Prune Doughnuts plans 50 new stores

    Ocean City, Md. — Fractured Prune Doughnuts has announced a national expansion projecting 50 new store agreements in the next six months. The next Fractured Prune www.fracturedprune.com will open in St. George, Utah, on Sept. 24.

    The brightly colored doughnut shops promote always hot doughnuts, available all ways and offers 15 glazes and 15 toppings.

     

  • McDonald’s testing payment app

    New York -- McDonald’s is testing a mobile order and payment application in Austin, Texas, and Salt Lake City, Bloomberg News reported.

  • Winick signs Bareburger into Columbus Square

    New York — Organic burger restaurant Bareburger has signed a lease for 1,875 sq. ft. at 795 Columbus Avenue in New York City. It will be the chain’s first Upper West Side location as well as the first sit-down restaurant to lease space in the Columbus Square development project.

    Winick Realty Group represented Bareburger in the transaction.

     

  • Cobbs Ford Village adds three tenants

    Prattville, Ala. — Cobbs For Village, a 2.52-acre inline shopping center currently under construction in Prattville, Ala. is adding three tenants to its lineup.

    Smashburger, Gigi’s Cupcakes and Chipotle Mexican Grill have signed leases with GBT Realty Corp. and will take up residence when the center opens next spring.

    The new tenants join previously announced Starbucks Coffee, Aspen Dental and Firehouse Subs. GBT Realty is currently in lease negotiations for two of the four remaining available spaces.

     

  • McDonald’s same-store sales mostly show improvement

    Oak Brook, Ill. - McDonald's Corporation reported increased same-store sales in all but one segment during August 2013. Same-store sales increased 0.2% in the U.S. compared to the same month in the previous year, and also grew 3.3% in Europe and 1.9% globally.

    However, same-store sales in Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMPEA) declined 0.5%. McDonald’s cited negative sales results in Japan and China, partially offset by positive results in many other markets and the shift in timing of Ramadan. Systemwide sales improved 2.8%.

  • Perkins unveils franchise plans for Iowa and Nebraska

    Memphis, Tenn. — Perkins Restaurant & Bakery has announced a six-unit franchise development agreement in Iowa and Nebraska over the next six years. The franchisee, CyHawk Hospitality Inc., currently operates six Perkins Restaurants and Bakeries — five in Iowa and another in Independence, Mo.

    The first of the six new units opened in July in Ankeny, Iowa. Another location in Norfolk, Neb., has broken ground with an anticipated opening later this month.

     

  • Johnny Rockets rockets into Tegucigalpa

    Aliso Viejo, Calif. — Honduras has welcomed Johnny Rockets to its first location in the country at City Mall Tegucigalpa. It is the second Central American restaurant — the first opened in Panama City in 2010. The new restaurant spans 2,266 sq. ft. plus a 365-sq.-ft. terrace. It seats 105 diners.

    The largest shopping center in the Honduran capital, City Mall features more than 300 shops and restaurants; eight Cinemark theatres; and parking for 1,500 cars.
