  • RMC logged $79.5 million in transactions during 2013

    Tampa, Fla. — RMC Real Estate Services recorded a transaction volume of $79.5 million in 2013, encompassing 1.4 million sq. ft. within its RMC Property Group and RMC Ross Realty divisions. Leasing activity included 279 transactions, encompassing 905,000 sq. ft., valued at a total of $49.1 million. Investment activity closed 20 deals for $30.4 million, spanning 532,000 sq. ft.

  • Digital money transfer provider Xoom acquires BlueKite

    Xoom, a leading digital money transfer provider, has acquired BlueKite, LTD, a cutting edge technology company that develops applications to improve the way people around the world pay their bills, for approximately $15 million in cash and equity.

    Guatemala City-based BlueKite, which currently has 30 employees, caught Xoom’s eye because of its technology platform for cross-border bill payments and mobile phone top-ups. This acquisition will allow Xoom to offer adjacent services to its money transfer offerings.

  • Cabela’s names financial exec to board

    Sidney, Neb. - Cabela’s Inc. has named Donna M. Milrod to its board of directors. Milrod has been the chief administrative officer of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) since October 2012, with responsibilities for DTCC’s finance, operations, regulatory relations, business continuity, vendor management, and security functions.

  • Report: RadioShack to close about 500 stores

    New York -- RadioShack Corp. will close about 500 stores within months as part of its ongoing restructuring, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. The retailer, which is due to report results for the fourth quarter later this month, has about 4,500 locations.

  • The Wet Seal board member Mindy C. Meads exits

    The Wet Seal board member Mindy C. Meads has resigned her spot to focus on her new role as CEO of Calypso St. Barth.

    “Mindy has been a valued member of the board of directors and we wish her well in her future endeavors with Calypso St. Barth. Mindy’s leadership as chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and her general contributions to the board were a value to the company and its shareholders,” said Lynda Davey, non-executive chairperson.

    Sears Holdings has named Norman Miller as SVP and president, automotive. Miller most recently served as president and COO of Dollar Financial Corp. In his new role with Sears Holdings, he will be responsible for the company's automotive business, including Sears Auto Centers.

    Diane Sullivan is now CEO, president and chairman of the board of Brown Shoe Company. The company’s board of directors appointed her as chairman last June, and her new role became effective Feb. 2.

  • Jos. A. Bank: Men’s Wearhouse offer ‘undervalues’ company

    Hampstead, Md. – The correspondence between Jos. A. Bank and The Men’s Wearhouse continues, and it’s not all love letters. In response to a letter sent Jan. 30 from the Men’s Wearhouse board urging Jos. A. Bank to reconsider its recent all-cash offer to acquire Jos. A. Bank for $57.50 per share, or about $1.6 billion, Jos. A. Bank — which rejected that offer on Jan. 20 — does not sound anxious to revisit it in the most recent letter it sent to Men’s Wearhouse president and CEO Doug Ewert.
