  • Empire State Realty Trust acquires two N.Y. leases for $734 million

    New York - Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. (ESRT), a New York-based real estate investment trust, has completed the acquisition of the ground and operating leases at 112 West 34th Street and the ground lease at 1400 Broadway for a total of approximately $734 million in cash, common stock and operating partnership units. 112 West 34th Street is a 26-story, 650,769-rentable-sq.-ft.office tower, with 92,455-sq.-ft. of retail space located in the 34th Street/Penn Station submarket.

    San Francisco - Visa Inc. is opening One Market, a 112,000-sq.-ft. innovation center and office space at One Market Street in San Francisco. The move provides Visa technologists, clients, partners and the Bay Area tech community an innovative space to jointly develop the next generation of commerce applications.

    Atlanta - IDology, a provider of identity and age verification solutions, has released ExpectID Global GeoTrace, a new anti-fraud tool designed to help identify and eliminate location-based fraud. In addition, IDology has expanded its global identity verification solution, ExpectID Global, to now include coverage for Mexico.

    San Francisco -- Visa is launching a new service, Visa Checkout that enables consumers throughout the United States, Canada and Australia to pay for goods online, on any device, with just a few clicks.

  • Bed, Bath & Beyond prices $1.5 billion of senior notes

    Union, N.J. - Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. has priced three series of senior unsecured notes for an aggregate principal amount of $1.5 billion. Of these notes, $300 million will mature in August 2024, $300 million will mature in August 2034, and $900 million will mature in August 2044.

    The offering is expected to close, subject to normal closing conditions, on July 17, 2014. The company intends to use the proceeds from this offering for share repurchases of its common stock and for general corporate purposes.

  • Dollar Tree names Tractor Supply exec as investor relations VP

    Chesapeake, Va. - Randy Guiler has joined Dollar Tree Inc. as VP, investor relations. Guiler, 49, is joining Dollar Tree after nearly 15 years with Tractor Supply Company, including leading Tractor Supply’s investor relations efforts for the past 10 years.

    Prior to his role as VP, investor relations & corporate communications, Guiler also had responsibility for Tractor Supply’s treasury and risk management functions. Guiler will succeed Timothy Reid, 61, who is retiring.

     

  • Wolverine Worldwide to close 140 stores as part of right-sizing in an omnichannel age

    Rockford, Mich. -- Wolverine Worldwide said it plans to close about 140 stores, primarily under the Stride Rite banner,  over the next 18 months as part of a strategic realignment plan to accelerate growth and improve overall profitability.  About 60 stores will close by the end of the current fiscal year, with the rest to be shuttered by the end of 2015.

  • Report: New York data breaches triple since ‘06

    New York – Data breaches in the state of New York more than tripled between 2006 and 2013, exposing 22.8 million records. According to Bloomberg, a report from the New York attorney general’s office indicates almost 5,000 data breaches were reported in New York during those seven years.
