Mango hit two new milestones in its U.S. expansion plan.

The Barcelona-based global fashion retailer has opened its 60th U.S. location with a new store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile — its first store in Illinois. The approximately 11,000-sq.-ft. outpost features the brand’s women’s and men’s lines, with all merchandise created at Mango’s Barcelona headquarters, which features a team of more than 500 specialists.

The new store is part of the company’s ambitious U.S. expansion plan which aims to open more than 20 stores in the country this year, resulting in about 65 company-owned stores by the end of 2025. In the upcoming months, Mango will also increase its presence in California with a store in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza.

The new location features the company’s Mediterranean-inspired "New Med" concept, which is designed to showcases the brand’s spirit and freshness. Sustainability and architectural integration are key to the design, which mimics a Mediterranean home that features warm tones and neutral colors, combined with traditional, handcrafted and natural materials.

The store also highlights certain elements that give a nod to the store’s local uniqueness of the Windy City. In collaboration with local construction teams, Mango incorporated brickwork along the walls paying homage to the city’s architectural legacy. A horizontal layout, with concealed vertical joints, echoes the signature masonry of iconic Prairie-style houses, creating a connection between Chicago’s history and Mango’s Mediterranean identity.

Additionally, the geometric wall textiles are inspired by a drawing by Eugene Masselink, Frank Lloyd Wright’s trusted apprentice, and reflects Wright’s guiding principles of structure, rhythm, harmony, and reverence for nature.

“Expanding Mango’s footprint to a city like Chicago is an important achievement for the entire Mango team and reaffirms our deep commitment to our U.S. clients,” said Daniel López, Mango’s chief expansion and franchise officer. “Our location on Chicago’s prestigious Magnificent Mile is a testament to the warm reception of our unique value proposition in the U.S. and marks another strategic move in strengthening our footprint across the country.”

In the upcoming months, Mango will also increase its presence in California with a store in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza. By the end of the year, the company plans to have 65 stores in the U.S.

These store openings are part of Mango’s ambitious U.S. expansion plan, which began in 2022 with the opening of its flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. In 2025, Mango’s goal was to open 20 new stores and double its workforce to more than 1,200 employees across the country by the end of the year.

By 2026, the company expects the country to become one of the group's three main markets in terms of revenue.

Founded in 1984, Mango operates more than 2,840 stores worldwide, with the vast majority of them concentrated in Europe.
