Mall of America announces Black Friday festivities
A host of Black Friday activations have been announced for America’s largest retail and entertainment center.
Mall of America has shared its schedule for Black Friday (Nov. 28), which will include tens of thousands of dollars in prizes, a host of doorbuster sales, and live entertainment.
“There’s nothing quite like the magic of Black Friday at Mall of America,” said Jill Renslow, chief business development & marketing officer at Mall of America. “It’s more than a shopping day; it’s a moment where the season truly begins. Families come together, friends gather, and the entire Mall comes alive with joy, music, and celebration. This year, we’re bringing that festive spirit to life in bigger, more exciting ways than ever before, with entertainment, and surprises, creating countless unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
Giveaways
As visitors are welcomed through the North Entrance, they will receive a Mystery Card presented by the Minnesota Lottery. Each card will reveal either a Silver prize, redeemable at participating Mall retailers, or the coveted Doorbuster prize.
Those lucky enough to win a Doorbuster will be directed to the high-energy Doorbuster Zone, where larger-than-life characters will literally bust through a door to deliver prizes valued at up to nearly $600. The first 200 guests in line (18+) will also receive a Spot it! Game and a $25 Mall of America gift card. Additionally, out of those first 200 arrivals one lucky guest will be named the Spot it! Sweepstakes winner and will take home $5,000, courtesy of Asmodee, doubling the prize awarded last year.
Entertainment
New this year, early visitors to Mall of America can enjoy a Black Friday Pre-Opening Celebration outside the North Entrance. Local hip-hop artist Nur-D will serve as emcee, and guests will be treated to music from DJ Hayes, along with live carolers, complimentary hot chocolates. The celebration will culminate in a lively countdown as the doors open at 7 a.m.
At noon, pop star and media personality JoJo Siwa will take the stage with a live performance in the Huntington Bank Rotunda, where she will debut a brand-new holiday single, “Message to the World (Little Drummer Girl).” Following her set, 100 lucky fans will take part in an exclusive meet & greet, which includes a photo opportunity, a signature JoJo bow, and a commemorative poster. As part of her return, Siwa will also relaunch her bow line with an exclusive Bow Shop pop-up in the Huntington Bank Rotunda. Shoppers can browse a selection of her signature bows along with brand-new merchandise, including JoJo-themed necklaces, t-shirts, and more.
Also, throughout the day, The Rotunda will feature Bells2Go, a one-of-a-kind musical act featuring a custom instrument that plays 35 cast bronze bells simultaneously.
Opening on Black Friday, Mall of America’s Candy Cane Institute invites guests to join Santa’s elves in uncovering the “true meaning of the holidays” through a self-guided journey. Guests can purchase a photo package online, which includes a personalized call from Santa, digital photos, a festive e-postcard, and a special in-person visit from Santa himself. Free walk-up visits are welcome based on availability.
