Lidl’s growing U.S. supply chain network lays groundwork for store expansion
The German discount grocer Lidl is building a supply chain infrastructure that points to future expansion.
According to a story by CSA sister publication Retail Leader, Lidl is building a network of large distribution centers along the Eastern seaboard that will be capable of serving 1,500 or more stores when fully operational.
The grocer recently opened its third center, in Perryville, Md., midway between Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. A fourth warehouse, the company’s largest to date at 925,000-sq.-ft., will be located in southeast of Atlanta.
