New competitors are springing up for the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days promotional event.
The upcoming Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale (Oct. 10-11) has already drawn competition with competing sales extravaganzas from retailers including Walmart, Target and Best Buy.
In the last few days, department store chain Kohl’s, technology e-commerce retailer Newegg Commerce Inc., and retail research/advisory firm Coresight Research have all announced their own events running concurrently with Prime Big Deal Days. Following is a brief overview of each:
Kohl’s Deal Dash
The Kohl’s Deal Dash event runs for all customers through Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Kohl’s more than 1,100 stores and on its e-commerce site and app.
Discounts are available for national and private label brands across product categories including toys, kitchen appliances. Free shipping is available for online orders with no minimum purchase amount and self-pick-up of online purchases is also offered at stores.
Customers enrolled in the free Kohl’s Rewards loyalty program will receive additional exclusive offers, including $10 off $50 a qualifying home purchase and $10 off $50 qualifying toy and novelty gifts purchases.
“We know shoppers are starting to shop and plan for the holidays earlier, and our customers loved our Deal Dash event last year, so are we bringing it back, making it longer and packing it with even more great deals and more ways to stretch your dollar at Kohl’s,” said Christie Raymond, Kohl’s chief marketing officer. “From deal seekers looking to grab must-have gifts for family and friends to festive hosts looking to deck their halls and home, everyone will find more savings at Kohl’s during our kick off to the holidays, and all season long.”
Newegg FantasTech Sale II
Newegg is offering its major fall sales promotion, FantasTech Sale II, through Friday, Oct. 13. A follow-up to its annual FantasTech Sale which competed with Amazon Prime Day in July, FantasTech Sale II provides discounts on tech products like graphics cards, gaming laptops, creator laptops, desktop PCs, PC components, and a variety of tech devices.
FantasTech Sale II is also the kick-off of Newegg’s Extended Holiday Return Policy. Certain products purchased from Newegg on its e-commerce site are eligible for a refund or replacement through Jan. 31, 2024. The purchase must fall between Oct. 9, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2023.
In addition to FantasTech Sale II, Newegg is rolling out deals throughout October with its Techtober Sale, a series of online sales events.
“FantasTech Sale II is a fantastic online shopping experience for customers who want to save big on tech before the traditional holiday shopping season begins in November,” said Kevin Lin, senior director of product management for Newegg. “With customers pursuing great deals this week, we are dedicated to delivering an effortless shopping experience on our platform.”
Coresight Research 10.10 shopping festival
Created by Coresight Research as a U.S. version of Chinese e-tail giant Alibaba’s annual “Singles Day” 11.11 Global Shopping Festival in 2020, the 10.10 shopping festival features over 100 participating retailers and brands offering livestream and online discounts.
As part of the event, Coresight is partnering with social commerce platform LiSA, to host a social and livestream discovery day. The event will take place in London at the Sook pop-up retail space. Retailers such as Marks & Spencer will showcase their livestreaming programs, and Coresight Research and LiSA will provide best practices and research for brands and retailers.
There will also be an interactive live show demo, and retailers and creators can participate virtually.
“We created the 10.10 shopping festival to showcase the value that social commerce can bring to retailers and brands,” said Deborah Weinswig, CEO and founder of Coresight Research. “We chose the date of 10.10 in order to build on the value already created by online shopping festivals such as Singles’ Day (11.11), and to provide an opportunity for retailers and brands to kick-start the holiday season early, providing limited time deals and promotions for consumers as they start their holiday shopping. Today we are pleased to see that a number of retailers and brands – large and small – have adopted 10.10 as an annual shopping holiday, providing consumers with numerous options for deal-hunting in the start of the holiday season.”
