A leading delivery platform is expanding cash back benefits for its drivers when filling up at the pump.

Instacart is bolstering savings support for shoppers by increasing per-gallon gas savings through its partnership with cash back app Upside. The company is also introducing new Mileage Support that provides additional weekly financial assistance for eligible shoppers.

Effective Monday, March 30, Instacart is increasing cash back savings through Upside across every tier. Platinum and Diamond Cart shoppers can earn up to $0.50 per gallon (increased from $0.35/gal), while Gold Cart shoppers can earn up to $0.40 per gallon (increased from $0.30/gal). Non-Cart Star shoppers up to $0.30 per gallon (increased from $0.25/gal).

Also starting March 30, eligible shoppers who drive 125 miles or more per week while actively fulfilling batches will receive weekly $5 Mileage Support. Depending on how many miles a shopper drives, this amount could translate to an estimated $1 per gallon in additional savings.

All of the new benefits are stackable, meaning shoppers can combine Upside savings, Mileage Support, and Shopper Rewards Card cash back to maximize their fuel savings. The enhanced Upside savings and Mileage Support will run through April 30, 2026, with the potential to extend, according to Instacart.

According to data from AAA, the national average price per gallon of regular gasoline is up roughly $1 compared to just one month ago, coinciding with the beginning of the conflict in Iran.

“We know rising fuel costs have a real impact for shoppers, especially those driving more miles,” said Tom Maguire, VP and head of operations at Instacart. “By expanding per-gallon savings and adding new Mileage Support, we’re helping shoppers offset costs.”
