Cos is expanding its store footprint and its new sustainable design concept.

The chic, minimalist men’s and women’s fashion brand, owned by H&M Group, will enter in Mexico in the summer of 2023, opening a flagship in the country’s capital, Mexico City. The location part of a wider expansion strategy to scale the business globally and attract customers in new markets.

Located at Antara, an open-air shopping center in Polanco, the 5,231-sq. -ft. store will be the third Cos to reflect the brand’s new sustainable design concept, which is focused on circularity in both materials and design. It will encompass more sustainable materials, including bamboo wardrobes, recycled acrylic vitrine display cases and a rail system made with recycled aluminum. The concept is designed so that it can be maintained, repaired and repurposed.

In October, Cos debuted its new sustainable design concept in Europe, opening a flagship in Stockholm. The two-level, 6,092-sq.-ft. store boasts 66% more recycled material than the original Cos store design, with 30% recycled aluminum rails, 100% recycled polystyrene mannequins in place of fiberglass, and the removal of CO2-heavy concrete fittings.

Since it launched in 2007, Cos has expanded across Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America and the Middle East. It currently operates 264 stores (including 12 in the U.S.) across 48 physical markets, with 39 online markets and selected wholesale partners.

“Opening a flagship store in Mexico is an incredibly exciting step for Cos,” said Katie Reeves, managing director, North America, Cos. “We are always looking for new markets to introduce people to our brand and are confident Antara is the perfect destination for the launch.”
