Gordon Brothers has added a British accessories brand to its portfolio.

The global asset management firm has acquired the Radley brand and related intellectual property. As the new brand owner, Gordon Brothers says it will drive a growth strategy that “expands Radley’s global brand and operations through strategic investments in people, products and marketing.”

Founded in London in 1998, Radley’s product categories include handbags, watches, jewelry, eyewear and beauty gifting. In a statement to WWD, FTI Consulting, the brand’s administrator, said the operating business of Radley London, which included two high street stores, 18 outlets, 36 concessions and a direct‑to‑consumer website that served 17 countries, did not form part of the transaction. FTI added that the operating business will continue for a period to realize the company’s assets, following which it will be wound down. Forty two jobs are expected to be impacted.

“We are thrilled to add another British icon to our global portfolio of brands,” said Tobias Nanda, head of brands at Gordon Brothers. “Our goal is to invest in Radley and support the company’s next phase of development, expanding the brand’s footprint in the U.S., U.K., Australia and Asia so future generations can experience the best of British craftsmanship.”

Gordon Brothers says it will pursue an “asset-light model” for Radley to unlock the full potential of the brand, focusing on strengthening relationships with key retailers, expanding the brand’s international presence and extending Radley’s product categories. Other fashion and lifestyle brands in the Gordon Brothers portfolio includes Nicole Miller, LK Bennett, Rachel Zoe, Chinese Laundry, Laura Ashley, Telefunken and Broyhill.

Headquartered in Boston, Gordon Brothers operates more than 30 offices across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
