Giant Co. continues Philadelphia expansion
The Giant Company is adding to its presence in Philadelphia.
The grocer has opened a 50,700-sq.-ft. store at 501. N. Broad Street, on the ground floor of LVL North, a 410-unit apartment building complex. It’s the first of two locations planned for the city, with a 49,800-sq.-ft. slated to open on July 1, at 1025 Second Street Pike. Both stores will highlight fresh departments, such as farm fresh garden produce, fresh meat and seafood, and bakery, along with a Beer & Wine Eatery.
The two new stores add to Giant’s growth in the greater Philadelphia area during the past year. In 2021, the company, a division of Ahold Delhaize USA, opened four stores in the city, including its urban flagship store at Riverwalk, a Giant Heirloom Market in the Fashion District and two additional Giant Stores.
The company also opened a new store in Doylestown. And to meet the growing demand for online grocery shopping across the city and in southern New Jersey, Giant opened a state-of-the-art direct e-Commerce fulfillment center in Philadelphia.
Giant has more than 35,000 employees who support 190 stores, 133 pharmacies, 107 fuel stations, and over 175 online pickup hubs and grocery delivery service across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and New Jersey.
