Foxtrot is reopening with an expanded coffee experience and reimagined food offering.

Foxtrot, the upscale urban convenience store chain that closed its doors unexpectedly in April, is set to make a comeback under the leadership of its co-founder.

Foxtrot will reopen its first location — on Chicago’s Gold Coast — on Sept. 5 under the new Foxtrot Café and Market banner. More locations are scheduled to reopen in Chicago and Dallas through 2025. More than a dozen former Foxtrot ocations are slated to welcome back customers by spring, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Foxtrot is reopening with an expanded coffee experience and reimagined food offering that includes expanded, full-day menu featuring breakfast, lunch and afternoon offerings.

Foxtrot shut down operations without warning in April. The closure followed the retailer’s merger with Dom's Kitchen & Market at the end of 2023, with the two companies operating under the new entity of Outfox Hospitality. Prior to closing, Foxtrot had 33 stores in the Chicago, DC, Dallas and Austin markets. Dom’s has two locations in Chicago.

In May, Foxtrot’s assets were sold at a bankruptcy action to Further Point Enterprises after parent company Outfox Hospitality declared bankruptcy. Further Point’s chairman is Foxtrot co-founder Mike LaVitola.

"Our new coffee and food menus are a true reflection of Foxtrot's founding principle: taking the ingredients we're passionate about, partnering with the best purveyors, and making them a special part of our day — and yours — every day," said Foxtrot chairman LaVitola.

Founded in 2013, Foxtrot was designed as a modern take on the convenience store, combining an upscale corner store and café with app-based purchasing that provided 30-minute deliveries. Stores featured a wide variety of products, including freshly crafted chef-prepared meals, premium groceries, wine, snacks and sweets, personal care products, and gifts. The brand curated its selection with up-and-coming brands and local favorites.

The new menu introduces made-fresh-daily panini sandwiches, salads, and bowls for lunch, alongside an assortment of freshly baked cookies. Leading the coffee service are exclusive blends, such as The Milk Man Blend and Early Train Espresso, crafted specifically for Foxtrot cafés, and retail bean and CPG selections from longtime Chicago roasters and partners.

The stores will also reintroduce customer favorites such as gummies and gummy mixes, along with its highly curated market featuring the best new products from small and local makers.
