Wayfair has added 20-year-plus supply chain veteran to its operations leadership team.

The direct-to-consumer home furnishings giant said that Sean Halligan has joined the company as chief global supply chain officer. Halligan will drive strategic supply chain initiatives at Wayfair amid the ongoing expansion of the company’s fulfillment center and delivery network and the development of its global freight network.

Most recently, from 2018 to 2021, Halligan served as senior VP, supply chain, Cardinal Health. Prior to that, from 2016 to 2018, he was VP, North American fulfillment, logistics and operations at Nike. Halligan spent 18 years at Target, including serving as VP, global logistics and trade, from 2013 to 2016.

“We are delighted to welcome Sean to the operations leadership team as we rapidly expand and strengthen our capabilities across our end-to-end, global logistics network,” said Thomas Netzer, COO, Wayfair. “Sean’s exceptional leadership track record and deep operations expertise spanning distribution, transportation, supply chain systems and automation strongly position him to lead Wayfair’s supply chain team.”

In December, Wayfair announced plans to expand in brick-and-mortar across all its banners, starting with two AllModern stores and one Joss & Main store in Massachusetts this year. (The company’s other brands include Wayfair, Birch Lane and Perigold.)

“I’ve watched Wayfair grow into an industry leader over the last decade and could not be more excited to join the team, particularly now, as the company continues to expand its world-class operations footprint to support the ongoing growth of the business, including the expansion into new markets and physical retail,” added Halligan. “The strength of Wayfair’s global supply chain drives a best-in-class experience for its customers and truly sets Wayfair apart as the go-to retailer for the home in North America, Germany and the United Kingdom. I look forward to working with this talented team to continuously improve and enhance the customer experience through operations expertise and innovation.”

Wayfair generated $14.1 billion in net revenue for the year ended September 30, 2021. It is based in Boston, with operations throughout North America and Europe.
