A Canadian apparel brand is expanding its footprint in its home country.

Roots has been updating its stores across Canada this year, with the initiative also including the opening of its newest flagship in Vancouver, and the launch of its first-ever "pilot concept store" in Toronto. The brand says the new locations blend “heritage with innovation,” while showcasing lighter, brighter spaces that incorporate elements of nature.

The new flagship in downtown Vancouver features design elements that include a preserved moss wall and custom moss beaver sculpture, paying tribute to the Roots logo and Canada’s natural landscapes. A lightbox ceiling installation features a commissioned image of local landmark Stanley Park, while digital features, including holographic screens, “capture the essence” of Vancouver’s outdoor culture. A curated assortment, called The Vancouver collection, is exclusive to the city.

Roots says the flagship will serve as a community hub, hosting events and initiatives that bring people together.

The new concept store in Toronto is designed to pay homage to the brand's legacy and evoke a personal and authentic Roots experience. Located in the Rosedale neighborhood, the space is decorated with archival black-and-white photos, heritage objects and contemporary Canadian art, combined with wood finishes.

The store will carry an assortment of local brands, hand-selected Roots apparel including vintage pieces, and will also serve as a key location for community engagements, the company said.

“Our stores are more than destinations to shop, they are environments that bring our brand purpose to life,” sais Meghan Roach, president & CEO of Roots Corp. “Each space reflects our deep connection to nature, community, and craftsmanship. With these new and refreshed locations, we are inviting customers to rediscover the Roots brand.”

Roots continued additional store enhancements across Canada, including Mont-Tremblant (reopened July 18) and Vaughan Mills (relaunched April 17).
