eBay expands tire installation offering

eBay is making it easier for customers to purchase, ship and install tires.

eBay Motors, which the e-commerce giant launched as a separate mobile app in December 2019, is adding new features to the tire installation service it first introduced in 2017 and expanded in partnership with CarAdvise in 2019.

Now, eBay Motors is providing a larger selection of searchable tire inventory and enabling users to choose a preferred local installation provider from more than 5,000 locations nationwide. In addition, tire shoppers can seamlessly book their service by entering their tire size details and selecting a local shop for shipping and installation.

Tires will ship directly to the service center, and customers will receive an email or phone call from eBay Motors' partners, who will guide appointment scheduling and completion of the service. They then visit the shop to complete the installation.

eBay Motors is offering access to the service within a five-mile radius of the average shopper, working with tire installation partners CarAdvise and SimpleTire, and partner shops such as Firestone and PepBoys. This expansion of its tire installation service follows the e-tailer’s February 2023 launch of Guaranteed Fit, a program providing a green “Fits” compatibility checkmark on select parts and accessories listings to help customers determine whether the part will fit their specific vehicle.

"eBay Motors now makes that easier than ever with a complete solution that helps buyers of all skill levels find the right tires for their vehicle, book an appointment at their convenience, and have them professionally installed by a local shop."

According to eBay, more than 75% of tires on eBay Motors are now eligible for installation services. Now through July 2, shoppers can obtain free installation when they purchase a set of new tires.

Founded in 1995 in San Jose, Calif., eBay operates in more than 190 markets globally. In 2022, eBay enabled nearly $74 billion of gross merchandise volume.
