Dollar General accepts SNAP for DoorDash delivery orders

Dollar General is partnering with DoorDash to let customers pay via SNAP.

Dollar General is expanding how customers can use federal benefits to pay for groceries from its stores.

The discounter is partnering with DoorDash to bring federal SNAP/EBT benefit payment capabilities to more than 16,000 its stores on the DoorDash marketplace. With the addition of Dollar General, DoorDash’s network of stores that accept SNAP/EBT online payments on its marketplace nearly doubles to more than 35,000 stores.

"Dollar General’s mission of serving others includes helping customers save time and money every day," said Tony Rogers, senior VP and chief marketing officer at Dollar General. "Unlocking the ability for SNAP/EBT recipients to shop online and have groceries delivered straight to their door through DoorDash provides even more accessibility and convenience."

The new collaboration, which also includes a partnership with payments company Forage, provides SNAP recipients with access to on-demand grocery delivery from Dollar General stores across 48 states.

As a result, SNAP-eligible products from Dollar General, including fresh and frozen foods, pantry essentials, snacks, and more are now available for purchase through the DoorDash marketplace. Dollar General has long accepted SNAP payments for in-store purchases.

"We’re proud to collaborate with Dollar General to further this commitment, ensuring even more SNAP beneficiaries nationwide can conveniently access fresh, affordable groceries with the dignity and ease they deserve."

DoorDash also offers a one-year discounted DashPass plan for SNAP/EBT recipients. Eligible consumers who sign up for the plan can obtain one year of DashPass benefits – like $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders, exclusive offers, and more – for a reduced price of $4.99/month.

As of Jan. 31, 2025, Dollar General operates 20,594 Dollar General, DG Market, DGX and Popshelf stores across the United States and Mi Súper Dollar General stores in Mexico.

As of June 2024, DoorDash says it has more than 115,000 non-restaurant stores on its marketplace in North America, including beauty, retail and grocery stores.
