Dick’s Sporting Goods opens nine House of Sport stores — with more to come

Dick’s Sporting Goods is just getting started when it comes to its experiental Dick’s House of Sport format.

The sporting goods giant celebrated the opening of  nine new House of Sport stores in July and August (locations at end of article). The sites join the first three House of Sport stores in Victor, N.Y.Knoxville, Tenn.; and Minnetonka, Minn.

Looking ahead, Dick’s anticipates opening between 75 to 100 House of Sport stores by 2027. It plans to open 20 locations  during the next two years, including nine stores this year.  

  With an 100,000-sq.-ft.-plus store footprint, House of Sport combines an extensive assortment of products with in-store experiences that give customers an opportunity to try product while measuring and tracking their performance. The experiences  include a climbing wall, multiple golf bays with TrackMan simulators and multi-sport cages that can be used for baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer.

In addition, House of Sport stores also focus on deep integration with the local community through partnerships and events. Some locations have a field attached to the store that can be used for open play, clinics, league space or as an ice rink in the winter.

Here are the locations of the nine new Dick’s House of Sport stores that opened in July and August:

•The Shops at Park Katy, Tex.;

•Baybrook Mall, Friendswood, Tex.;

•Davenport Commons, Davenport, Iowa;

•Market Place Shopping Center, Champaign, Ill.;

•Greenbrier Square, Chesapeake, Va.;

•Freedom Town, Fayetteville, N.C.;

•Latham Farms, Latham, N.Y.; 

•Viewmont Mall,  Scranton, Penn.; and

•Oakdale Commons Johnson City, N.Y.

Dick’s Sporting Goods operates more than 850 namesake, Golf Galaxy, Public Lands, Moosejaw, Going Going Gone! and Warehouse Sale stores. It also owns and operates Dick’s House of Sport and Golf Galaxy Performance Center, as well as GameChanger, a youth sports mobile platform for live streaming, scheduling, communications and scorekeeping.
