Dick’s Sporting Goods is expanding the footprint of its experiential store concept to one the country’s most sports-obsessed cities.

The nation’s largest sporting goods retailer will open Dick’s House of Sport at the Prudential Center in Boston, in spring 2024. Located a short distance from the finish of the famed Boston Marathon, the 100,000-sq.-ft.-plus store will carry a  broad selection of gear for team sports; athletic apparel and footwear brands; tour-level equipment, apparel, and footwear for the golfer; and gear for outdoor adventures.

The location will also offer a variety of in-store experiences, including a climbing wall, high-tech batting cages, and golf bays with TrackMan simulators.

Dick’s opened its first House of Sport in April 2021, at Eastview Mall, in the Rochester suburb of Victor, New York.  Earlier this year, the company said it plans to open 20 locations for the experiential  concept during the next two years, including nine stores this year.

In related news, Dick’s announced a multi-year partnership with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), making the retailer the

the official retail sponsor of B.A.A. events, beginning with the 2023 Boston Marathon, which will be held on April 17.

Dick’s will also become the presenting sponsor of the Boston Marathon Fan Fest, a three-day festival held in advance of the iconic race.

In celebration of the 127th running of the marathon, Dick’s unveiled a building-length  banner with the tagline "Running Boston Changes You" on Boston’s Boylston Street at the future location its House of Sport store. The banner is part of the company’s “Sports Changes Lives” campaign,  which highlights the positive impact sports participation has on individuals and the ability of sport to bring together and inspire communities and the next generation of athletes.

“We are honored to join forces with the Boston Athletic Association to support race participants and spectators," said Mark Rooks, VP, category marketing & partnerships, Dick’s Sporting Goods. "We believe in the power of sports to change lives and know that running the Boston Marathon can do just that."
