The Cordish Companies, whose Live! entertainment centers have been expanding into the Southeast, will land its first site in Louisiana. Literally.

Cordish has acquired the Diamond Jacks Casio & Hotel in Bossier City, La., and will replace the operation’s riverboat with a land-based Live! casino and entertainment center.

“We are committed to creating a world-class resort destination that brings first-class gaming, dining, entertainment and hospitality amenities to the region, creates significant new jobs, and generates millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community,” said Cordish managing partner Joe Weinberg.

Last year, a Live! Casino filled an empty anchor space at CBL Properties Westmoreland Mall outside of Pittsburgh. Live! also helped establish an entertainment center outside of the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Park in Arlington, where Trademark Property is developing a $250 million mixed-use center.

“This project will not only attract millions of visitors to our city annually, it will also create substantial new jobs and generate additional significant tax revenue for our community,” said Bossier Mayor Thomas Chandler.

Cordish is currently engaged in a billion-dollar development expansion in the Southeast, with other projects underway in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Its Live! brand claims to draw more than 55 million annual visitors to its entertainment districts, which have revitalized communities and reshaped the economies of major markets. Cordish has received seven Urban Land Institute Awards for excellence in its urban revitalization efforts.

“The success of Texas Live! in the Dallas-Fort Worth region gives us great confidence to continue growing our Live! brand across the South Central region,” said Rob Norton, president of Cordish Gaming Group. “We look forward to bringing a new standard in quality and excellence to Bossier City with the first land-based casino in the market.”

The Bossier City project is a true revival for the Shreveport suburb. Diamond Jack’s Casino & Hotel has been closed since 2020.
