    Target Corp. is running a Q&A with its new chairman and CEO, Brian Cornell, on its in-house, behind-the-scenes blog, A Bullseye View. The interview was conducted by the Bullseye View team.

    You are the first CEO who has been hired from outside of Target. What are the benefits of coming in from the outside? What will be some of the challenges?

  • Target opens three new Canadian stores; plans three more

    Mississauga, Canada – Target opens three new stores in Canada Aug. 1 and plans three more new Canadian stores later in the fall. The stores are located at Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga, Ontario; Park Place in Barrie, Ontario and Carrefour Candiac in Candiac, Quebec.

  • Hilldale to launch redevelopment

    Madison, Wisconsin -- Hilldale, a 675,000-sq.-ft. center in Madison, Wisconsin, is preparing to launch a major redevelopment that will add 53,000 sq. ft. of new retail and restaurant space built in an outdoor streetscape. As part of the redevelopment, Kate Spade New York, Lucky Brand, Michael Kors and Sperry Top-Sider will join the existing roster of national and local retailers, restaurants and specialty boutiques. The center is owned and operated by WS Development, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

  • Target’s Canadian expansion on track

    Target’s expansion of its troubled Canadian division remains on track as new chairman and CEO Brian Cornell prepares to assume leadership of the company in August.
     
    The new stores are located at Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga, Ontario; Park Place in Barrie, Ontario and Carrefour Candiac in Candiac, Quebec. The Barrie and Candiac locations are new buildings. Earlier this year, Target opened three locations in Canada, and has plans to open three more later this fall, bringing this year’s total to nine and overall total to 130.

  • Survey: Target generates most positive grocery sentiment

    Cambridge, Mass. – Target is the grocery brand with the highest positive consumer sentiment rating. In a survey of the grocery habits of 763 consumers exclusively released to Chain Store Age, analytics technology provider Luminoso Technology found that 60% of consumers had positive sentiment about Target as a grocery retailer.

    Retail and consumer products veteran Brian Cornell was named chairman and CEO at Target to fill two of the three roles previously held by the company’s former top executive Gregg Steinhafel.

  • Study: Amazon, Sears most price dynamic retailers

    Ottawa, Canada – Leading the pack of the most price-dynamic retailers are Amazon and Sears, according to analysis from price intelligence technology vendor 360pi. Both retailers change prices on 15%-20% of their 360pi-sampled assortment on a daily basis.
