    William Disbrow and Jim Sampey, former executives with Valpak/Cox Target Media, have joined Sterling Payment Technologies to grow Sterling’s loyalty products and a mobile initiative branded as Perkz.

    Disbrow and Sampey were both longtime former executives at Valpak/Cox Target Media who held C-level positions.

    FREMONT, Calif. — The Men's Wearhouse has appointed retail industry veteran Allen I. Questrom to its board of directors.

    Questrom’s addition brings the Men's Wearhouse board to a total of nine directors, seven of whom are independent.

  • Stirling Properties and JCH Development to develop Magnolia Marketplace

    New Orleans -- Stirling Properties and JCH Development have announced a joint venture to develop the first 6,000-sq. ft. building of Magnolia Marketplace Shopping Center in New Orleans at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Fourth Street. A second phase of the development will commence this fall at South Claiborne and Toledano.

  • Destination XL disappoints during Q1

    Canton, Mass. -- Destination XL reported disappointing financial results for the first quarter. The company’s net income fell 56% from $2.3 million in first quarter 2012 to $1 million, while same store sales grew 0.8%. Total sales also declined 2%, from $95.5 million to $93.6 million. Destination XL cited a colder-than-normal spring and a 60% drop in catalog sales as a contributor to declining quarterly performance.

    Princeton – A substantially higher percentage of Americans (60%) would rather save money than spend it (37%), according to a new Gallup poll. Consumer show little difference in these preferences according to demographic categories such as age, gender, education and political party.

  • Cherokee brand and Chinese retailer team on e-commerce presence

    Sherman Oaks, Calif. — American apparel brand Cherokee Inc. said Monday it has partnered with Chinese hypermarket chain RT Mart to launch an online Cherokee store on China’s largest e-commerce website, Tmall.com.

    Cherokee will join Gap, Uniqlo, Adidas and Levi’s, who have each opened retail storefronts on Tmall.com.
