  • South America’s largest retailer selects SAP solution to help manage carbon emissions and energy consumption

    New York City -- The Grupo Pao de Acucar, the largest retailer in South America, has selected the SAP Carbon Impact OnDemand solution to monitor and manage carbon emissions and energy consumption in each of its 1,832 stores. The solution, from SAP, will help the group, long recognized as a sustainability leader for retailers both in Latin America and globally, to more effectively control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increase the data quality of environmental reports submitted to financial and sustainability regulatory agencies.

  • New standard for retail payments

    New York City -- A new global standard for retail payments designed to help exchange data between payment terminals and POS terminals and support new payment technologies has been released by the Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) and EPASOrg, which sets card payment standards in Europe.

    Julie Roehm may have only spent a short time in Walmart’s marketing department over five years ago but she made quite a name for herself during that brief tenure and after she was fired. Now, Ad Age is reporting the former Walmart SVP has turned up in a similar capacity at software maker SAP.

  • Family Dollar goes live TradeStone’s merchandise lifestyle management solution

    Gloucester, Mass. -- TradeStone Software announced that Family Dollar Stores has gone live with TradeStone's Collaborative Sourcing and Supplier Community Management solutions. The implementation was done in only 100 days.

    “In my years at Family Dollar, I don't know of an application that's been up as fast as we got TradeStone up and running," said Scott Zucker, VP IT solutions, Family Dollar Stores, Matthews, N.C.

  • Irwin Tools appoints new president

    Irwin Tools, a leading maker of hand tools and power tool accessories based in Huntersville, N.C., has named Ross Porter as its new president. Porter has held a variety of positions during his 18 years at Newell Rubbermaid, Irwin’s parent company. He most recently served as president of EMEA Transformation, where Porter led the company’s European transformation efforts, including implementation of a new European business model, integration and implementation of SAP enterprise system, and relocation of its European headquarters.
