Jewel Food Stores (Jewel-Osco), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Albertsons Companies, is expanding its footprint in Indiana.    Jewel-Osco said it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Central Grocers to acquire 19 Strack & Van Til stores and other certain assets. Strack & Van Til is owned by Central Grocers, which filed for bankruptcy protection at the beginning of May.   

At a time when grocers are seeking ways to differentiate their e-commerce model, Natural Grocers is making a bold move just in time for Thanksgiving.   As an increasing number of shoppers are using online resources to make more informed decisions before making a purchase, Natural Grocers is launching an e-commerce service that enables shoppers to research and order their holiday turkey, and pick it up at their preferred store.   

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Natural Grocers will hit a major milestone in its store network next month. The specialty supermarket chain will open its fifth store in Arizona on Aug. 11 -- making it the company's 100th store nationwide.

The Scottsdale location is one of 18 Natural Grocers stores expected to open in fiscal year 2015.
 

Lakewood, Colo. - Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage will provide grocery delivery service to customers in Denver in as little as one hour with the Instacart grocery delivery service. Delivery to Denver metro area residents and businesses begins March 20.

Tucson, Ariz. -- Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, will open its first store in Tucson, its fourth in Arizona, on Jan. 20.

The family-run company was built on the premise that "consumers should have access to affordable, high-quality foods and dietary supplements, along with nutrition knowledge, to help support their own health."
