The study found the associate payroll was the most important factor in determining revenue. A mere additional dollar (properly applied) on labor could reap rewards of $4 to $28 in return.

  • Grocery exec joins supply chain board

    Former Delhaize America CEO and Hannaford Bros. executive Ronald C. Hodge has joined the board of the Park City Group.

    Hodge most recently served as an advisor to Delhaize America following a stint as CEO from March 2011 to Octomber 2012. Prior to Delhaize, Hodge spent 31 years with Hannaford Bros. Co., during which time he held various executive roles, including the position of CEO from 2001 to 2011.

  • Delhaize to close 146 stores on falling profits

    NEW YORK — Belgian supermarket operator Delhaize Group said that its fourth quarter net profit dropped 48%, hurt by impairments resulting from its restructuring. It also announced that Mats Jansson will be the new chairman of the board, and that Pierre Bouchut will succeed Stefan Descheemaeker as CFO, effective March 19.

    The company, whose U.S. holdings include the Food Lion, Hannaford Bros. and Sweetbay banners, said it will accelerate the revamp of its stores in the United States and Belgium to increase its competitiveness.

  • Shaw’s portfolio acquired

    Bryn Mawr, Pa. -- WP Realty and Angelo, Gordon & Co. announced the acquisition of the Shaw’s portfolio, consisting of seven Shaw’s-anchored shopping centers and one free-standing Hannaford Bros. located throughout Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island.

    The portfolio totals 659,143 sq. ft, is 97% leased and contains a mix of national, regional and local tenants. Shaw’s occupies 419,098 sq. ft. across the portfolio, Hannaford Bros. occupies 45,882 sq. ft., Staples 23,942 sq. ft., among others.
