  • MinuteClinic expands presence in San Antonio

    Woonsocket, R.I. -- MinuteClinic announced on Thursday the debut of two walk-in medical clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores located in San Antonio,Texas.

    The retail clinic operator, which opened its doors in the Lone Star state in 2006, now operates 45 clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores in Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio markets. In addition to the two clinics, a third is slated to open later this year.
     

  • CVS/pharmacy debuts mobile shopping platform for smartphones users

    Woonsocket, R.I. — Looking to stay on the cutting edge of mobile commerce, CVS/pharmacy has made the entire CVS.com catalog available to shoppers through its mobile site (m.cvs.com), so CVS/pharmacy customers easily can browse, order and buy products anywhere, anytime from their smartphones.

    In addition, the CVS Photo mobile site features fully-optimized print ordering and purchasing with easy checkout.

  • CVS/pharmacy enhances mobile features for greater convenience

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy today announced enhanced shopping and prescription refill functionality for its mobile site, located at m.CVS.com, as well as iPhone and Android apps, enabling shoppers to use mobile devices to manage their ExtraCare Rewards accounts, scan and send prescription refills, and order photo prints from CVS Photo Centers.

    Customers accessing CVS/pharmacy's mobile website can now take advantage of several features of the ExtraCare Rewards Program. This new functionality lets shoppers:

  • CVS/pharmacy recognizes Veterans Day by supporting USO, encourages flu shots

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — As Veterans Day approaches, CVS/pharmacy is reminding all Americans, including veterans, military service members and their families, about the importance of getting a flu shot for protection against the flu.

    In addition, to honor military heroes, CVS/pharmacy will donate $3 to the USO for every flu shot given at CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic during the week of Veterans Day, Nov. 6 to 12, up to $50,000.

  • MinuteClinic opens walk-in medical clinics in CVS toward 500-unit goal

    Woonsocket, R.I. -- MinuteClinic said Tuesday that it has opened two walk-in medical clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in Savannah and Richmond Hill, Ga.

    They are the first retail medical clinics to open in the Savannah region and join 31 other MinuteClinic locations in Georgia situated throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.

  • CVS' Merlo: CVS Caremark positioned to 'effectively compete' in PBM industry

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark posted second-quarter results that were at the high end of its guidance and narrowed its 2011 outlook on continued confidence. But it was the PBM business — and the potential merger of PBM rivals Express Scripts and Medco Health Solutions — that was top of mind for many industry observers, and was a topic that CVS Caremark president and CEO Larry Merlo hit head on at the start of Thursday morning’s conference call.

  • CVS Caremark Q1 profit slips 1%

    New York City -- CVS Caremark said Thursday its profit dipped 1% in the second quarter to $816 million as its pharmacy benefits management business weathered lower prices on contract renewals. Revenue rose 11% to $26.63 billion from $24.01 billion.

    Revenue from CVS drugstores increased 3.6% to $14.83 billion. Same-store sales were up 2%, with pharmacy sales up 2.6%  and front-end revenue up 0.8%.

    CVS opened 41 stores during the second quarter and operated 7,266 retail drugstores at the end of the period.
