BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Books-A-Million's efforts to secure the inventory, fixtures, equipment and leasehold interests for 30 Borders stores ended unsuccessfully because the company could not agree with Borders on terms and the going out of business sales at these locations commenced, the company announced Monday.

Hammond, La. -- Covington, La.-based Stirling Properties, developer of Hammond Square, said that Charming Charlie will occupy a 9,911-sq.-ft. space on Main Street across from Books-A-Million and Shoe Department Encore.

The anticipated opening is spring 2011, and will accompany openings by Academy Sports + Outdoors and The Children’s Place.

NEW YORK - Barnes & Noble announced a strategic partnership with Books-A-Million, to bring its NOOK e-readers to Books-A-Million’s 229 stores as the company’s exclusive e-reading devices. The announcement marks the first partnership of its kind between two major bookselling retailers in the United States, Barnes & Noble reported.
