  • Rand bolsters board

    Rand Corporation has appointed former Bloomingdale’s chairman and CEO Michael Gould and Paul Kaminski, who has held high-level posts in U.S. Department of Defense, to its board of trustees.

    “Michael Gould and Paul Kaminski are talented leaders and each has a passion to help Rand deliver rigorous and objective analysis to policy and decision makers in all corners of the world,” said president and CEO Michael D. Rich. “I know they will be valuable additions to our governing board.”

  • Earthbar signs into Glendale Galleria in May

    Glendale, Calif. — The health juice café, Earthbar, has leased a 1,168-sq.-ft. location on the third level of Glendale Galleria. Earthbar offers a range of juices and cleansers, vitamins and supplements, shakes and healthy snacks.

  • Kendra Scott Jewelry opens two Atlanta stores

    Atlanta -- Boutique accessories and jewelry designer Kendra Scott will add two new Atlanta-area stores – one in Buckhead at The Shops Around Lenox, and the other in Alpharetta, at the Avalon Center.

    The Shops Around Lenox store opens April 26, and will feature an interactive Kendra Scott Color Bar, where customers can design and personalize one-of-a-kind jewelry.

    The Avalon Center store in Alpharetta is slated to open fall 2014.

  • Berkshire Partners forms partnership with former Urban Outfitters exec Glen Senk

    Boston -- Berkshire Partners LLC, the Boston-based investment firm, and Glen T. Senk, a New York-based retail and consumer executive, are partnering to co-invest in innovative, high-growth retail and consumer businesses. Berkshire Partners has initially committed $350 million to future investments alongside Senk and his newly formed firm, Front Row Partners LLC, where he serves as chairman and CEO.

  • Four new retailers sign into Fashion Valley

    San DiegoSimon Property Group has announced that AllSaints, Pink, lululemon athletica and Free People plan to open stores at San Diego’s Fashion Valley in coming months.

    British fashion house, AllSaints will open a 5,200-sq.-ft. space in late March. The international retailer now has 107 stores in eight countries.

  • Sprouts Farmers Market, Athleta among brands in expansion mode

    New York -- Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Markets Inc. is expanding. The natural-foods supermarket chain expects to open 22 to 24 stores in fiscal 2014, including five locations in the Atlanta area.

    Sprouts currently operates more than 165 locations in eight states.

    Meanwhile, Gap Inc. continues to expand its newest banner, Athleta, with about 30 additional U.S. stores on tap for fiscal year 2014.

  • New spring, summer leases at Glendale Galleria

    Glendale, Calif. — Throughout the spring and summer, Glendale Galleria will open nine new stores and eateries including Armani Jeans, Blaze Pizza, Brighton Collectibles, Chipotle, Coach, Earthbar, Lolli & Pops and Zumiez.

    They will join La Baugette, another newcomer, which opened its Glendale Galleria location back in February.
