  • Anthropologie to open in Old Town property

    Alexandria, Va. -- Douglas Development announced that Anthropologie has signed a lease for 10,500 sq. ft. in the newly acquired Douglas Development property at 610-12 King Street in Old Town, Alexandria, Va.

    Anthropologie will move into the former Hallmark store by the end of this year.

  • Anthropologie to open on Upper East Side

    New York City -- Cushman & Wakefield announced that Anthropologie will replace the Lowes movie theater on the northwest corner of Third Avenue and 71st Street, in Manhattan.

    The theater, which had occupied the space for 50 years, closed at the end of 2010.

    The apparel retailer, which has three other locations in New York City (50 Rockefeller Plaza, 85 Fifth Avenue and 375 West Broadway) will occupy approximately 15,000 sq. ft., combining the ground floor and lower level.

  • Anthropologie to open on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

    New York City -- Robert K. Futterman & Associates said it has arranged a 14,564-sq.-ft. lease for Anthropologie at 1230 Third Ave. for its first Upper East Side location.

    Set to open this holiday season, the retailer will consist of 5,051 sq. ft. on the ground-floor and 9,513 sq. ft. of lower-level retail space. 

    This will be Anthropologie’s fifth location in Manhattan. 

  • Porcelanosa to open at Rockville Pike

    Chevy Chase, Md. -- JBG Rosenfeld Retail said it recently inked a long-term lease on behalf of kitchen and bath tile manufacturer and distributor Porcelanosa for a 12,500-sq.-ft. storefront formerly occupied by Anthropologie.

    The building, located at 11500 Rockville Pike, sits next to JBGR’s new North Bethesda Market development.

    Porcelanosa currently occupies an 8,000-sq.-ft. showroom in the 700 block of Rockville Pike in the Marlo building. 

  • Urban Outfitters profit dips in Q4

    Philadelphia -- Urban Outfitters reported Monday that net income for the quarter ended Jan. 31 dipped slightly to $75 million, compared with $77 million in the year-ago period.

    For the full year, profit rose to $273 million from $220 million a year earlier.

    Fourth-quarter net sales rose 14% to $668 million. Same-store sales for the quarter increased 4%. By brand, same-store sales rose 1% at Anthropologie, 28% at Free People and 5% for Urban Outfitters.

  • Urban Outfitters selects MID Retail’s Advanced Allocation Software

    Indianapolis -- MID Retail announced Urban Outfitters has selected MID Advanced Allocation Software to forecast and distribute merchandise for all store locations across its Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People brands. The MID solution was designed to help multi-store, multi-sku retailers increase accuracy, efficiency and profitability. The system includes both pack and size optimization modules for accurate sku-level allocation and replenishment.

  • Anthropologie to open at Town Center Plaza

    Kansas City, Kan. -- Beachwood, Ohio-based Developers Diversified Realty Corp. said that Anthropologie will open an 11,202-sq.-ft. store at Town Center Plaza, a 626,000-sq.-ft. lifestyle center located in Leawood, Kan.

    The new store is slated to open this summer.

    In 2010 at Town Center Plaza, Victoria's Secret relocated and expanded to a new 7,200-sq.-ft. prototype store, Bath & Body Works expanded into a 3,267-sq.-ft. space, and The Limited executed an agreement to open a 4,595-sq.-ft. store in the spring.
