  • Simon assumes leasing, management and marketing of Fox Run Mall

    Indianapolis -- Simon Property Group announced that it will assume leasing, management, and marketing duties of the Fox Run Mall in Newington, N.H. Simon will commence this new role at Fox Run on May 15.

  • Abercrombie & Fitch’s CEO compensation package down 38%

    New York City -- The chairman and CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. received a pay package worth $22.5 million, down 38% from last year, mostly because of a reduction in option awards, according to an analysis by The Associated Press.

    Jeffries, 66, received a base salary of $1.5 million and a performance-based bonus of $2.3 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

    He received option awards worth $14.1 million on the date they were granted, down 58% from the prior year.

  • Jos. A. Bank to open at Willow Grove Park this spring

    Willow Grove, Pa. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that Jos. A. Bank will open a new store at its Willow Grove Park shopping mall this spring.

    The 4,465-sq.-ft. store will be located next to Bloomingdale’s and will join Men’s Wearhouse and Tux, Express, J. Crew, Banana Republic and Guess, expanding Willow Grove Park’s men’s fashion collection.

    Chicago -- Accertify, a provider of software, tools and strategies for preventing fraud and a subsidiary of American Express, announced that Abercrombie & Fitch has implemented its Interceptas fraud prevention platform to enhance the retailer's ability to protect against credit card fraud in its direct-to-consumer business.

    For a company so often on the leading edge of offering its shopper affordable fashions in the apparel and home categories, there is one area where Target has been slow to keep pace with the prevailing trend.

  • February sales better than expected; Limited and Zumiez top apparel segment

    New York City -- Many retailers reported better-than-expected sales in February amid milder mid-month temperatures in many parts of the country. But some warned of a weaker March due the timing of the Easter holiday. Analysts also cautioned that rising fuel prices may damper consumer spending going forward.

    The Thomson Reuters Same-Store Sales Index rose 4.2% in February, topping estimates for a 3.6% increase, and also rising higher than in the year-ago period.

  • Abercrombie Q4 earnings nearly double

    New Albany, Ohio -- Abercrombie & Fitch Co.'s fiscal fourth-quarter net income nearly doubled on strong sales overseas and better U.S. results. The retailer reported net income of $92.6 million, up from $47.5 million a year ago.

    Revenue for the period ended Jan. 29 rose 23% to $1.15 billion, from $936 million. Domestic revenue rose 13%, while international revenue jumped 61%.

    Same-store sales rose 13%.

  • Fire damages Abercrombie & Fitch’s New York flagship

    New York City -- Abercrombie & Fitch’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City will be temporarily closed after a two-alarm fire last night damaged the building.

    More than 25 units and 125 firefighters responded to the blaze, which began about 11 p.m. local time last night.
