    Toys “R” Us has promoted its senior VP of store operations to a global leadership role.

  • C-store giant names CFO

    Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. has appointed Claude Tessier as its CFO, effective Jan. 28. The leader in the Canadian convenience store industry, Couche-Tard is the largest independent convenience store operator in the United States terms of number of company-operated stores.

    The industry veteran joins Couche-Tard from Canadian grocer Sobeys Inc., where he was president of the IGA Operations Business Unit.

  • Report: H-E-B to open convenience store format

    Citing a Virtual Builders Exchange report, the San Antonio Business Journal last week reported H-E-B would be opening a pureplay convenience store operation with plans to construct a 7,500-square-foot convenience and fuel center. "The convenience store market in San Antonio has become increasingly competitive over the past few years, made even more so with local CST Brands agressive expansion plans," the business journal reported.

  • C-store company adds 62 stores

    Circle K Stores Inc., a division of Alimentation Couche-Tard, has purchased 62 convenience stores in nine states from Dallas-based Greatstone Equities Inc., according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

    The deal includes locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Texas and Washington, the report said.

    Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. announced that Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Raymond Paré has resigned. It also announced a deal to acquire 18 convenience stores in the Souhwest, which will be converted to the Circle K brand and will continue to sell Shell and CITGO-branded fuel. The deal is expected to close by next April.
