Coldwater Creek revamps e-commerce site

Coldwater Creek is rolling out the BigCommerce platform.

A specialty women’s lifestyle brand is launching a new e-commerce site with a modernized tech stack.

Working with digital commerce agency CQL, Coldwater Creek sought to upgrade its technology environment and replace its e-commerce infrastructure to provide the ability to grow in a cost-effective and timely manner. The retailer ultimately chose the BigCommerce platform for its technological capabilities, strategic implementation plan and total cost of ownership.

The new Coldwater Creek online storefront offers a heightened customer experience featuring intuitive navigation with upgraded imagery and immersive storytelling, as well as visual badges and promotions designed to enrich the shopping experience.

By building its e-commerce infrastructure built on the open BigCommerce platform, Coldwater Creek intends to enable long-term growth with the flexibility to add new functionality quickly and easily.

“Coldwater Creek’s growth plan required a significant upgrade to our ecommerce capabilities,” said Dave Walde, CEO of Coldwater Creek. “Replatforming to BigCommerce gives us a modernized infrastructure to drive brand expansion, deliver an engaging customer experience and provide us with tools to scale operations and grow revenue.”

“Coldwater Creek is the latest fashion and apparel brand to capitalize on BigCommerce's open, trusted platform and strong partner ecosystem to expand the functionality and power of its online storefront,” said Steven Chung, president of BigCommerce. “We’re thrilled to add this inspiring multi-generational brand to the BigCommerce platform and look forward to supporting their long-term growth.”

"The strategic digital transformation to BigCommerce and a new tech ecosystem underscores Coldwater Creek's commitment to innovation, differentiation, and dedication to serving their customers," said Scott Robertson, managing director at CQL. "With a best-of-breed omni-channel experience and robust tools for their ecommerce team, Coldwater Creek is positioned for substantial growth ahead."

Coldwater Creek predicts returns with AI

In other efforts to upgrade its technology infrastructure, Coldwater Creek recenrtly deployed the artificial intelligence (AI)-based Newmine Chief Returns Officer platform to gain the ability to predict, forecast and prevent returns for improved profitability.

Utilizing the Chief Returns Officer' solution’s predictive analytics, Coldwater Creek and its recently acquired Soft Surroundings brand intend to quickly analyze and take corrective actions on why customers return merchandise, with the goals of deepening loyalty and customer satisfaction. The retailers will utilize the platform to automate analysis of sales, returns and customer feedback data to identify the root cause of returns.
