The Children's Place reportedly preps for bankruptcy amid big leadership shakeup
The Children’s Place may soon be on the selling block.
The children’s clothing retailer is preparing to file for bankruptcy and will pursue a sale that could either keep the business operating or result in its liquidation, according to a report by Bloomberg. The 57-year-old chain is reviewing offers from liquidators, as well as an investor consortium, the report said.
The Children’s Place has struggled in recent years amid increasing competition from online players as well as from Target and Walmart. After warning of liquidity concerns in February 2024, Mithaq Capital SPC, a Saudi family investment firm, became its majority shareholder.
