Companies across 23 industries were ranked based on trustworthiness.
When it comes to gaining consumer trust, some brands do better than others.
Brands that have earned a high degree of trust among consumers are highlighted in Newsweek’s “Most Trustworthy Companies in America” report. The annual study, conducted in partnership with Statista, ranks companies across 23 industries based on trustworthiness.
The rankings are based on an independent survey of about 25,000 Americans and 97,000 submitted evaluations of companies on three touchpoints: customer trust, investor trust and employee trust.
Additionally, internet media mentions of each company were analyzed, and companies involved in recent scandals or lawsuits related to trustworthiness were excluded from the ranking. Seven hundred companies made the final cut. (For more information on how Newsweek determined which companies make the list, click here.)
The Newsweek study come on the heels of a PwC survey which found that only 30% of customers feel that they highly trust companies — a 60-percentage-point "trust gap" that is three percentage points greater than the ones PwC found in 2022 and 2023.
As to the importance of trust, Newsweek noted that trust “may be the most important dynamic between consumers and the companies they do business with—it affects decisions about where to shop, what to buy and even where to work.”
