Centennial takes over management of Galleria Fort Lauderdale
Centennial, operator of more than 30 regional malls nationwide, continues on its aggressive campaign of signing new property management contracts under new president Paul Kurzawa.
In June, the company took over management of the Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green, Ky., and the Trumbull Mall in affluent Fairfield County, Conn.
This week, the Dallas-based company revealed it had been awarded the management contract for Galleria Fort Lauderdale on the same day the 800,000-sq.-ft. mall was acquired by GFO Investments and InSite Group in partnership with Atlas Real Estate and Prime Finance.
“We look forward to working with the Galleria’s new ownership on reimagining the center into the premier retail and entertainment destination in South Florida,” Kurzawa said. “Our firm has built a strong reputation as a trusted third-party operator with deep expertise in all facets of retail real estate management and leasing across the nation.”
When it opened in the 80s, the Galleria quickly established itself as a destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, drawing visitors from across South Florida. But when first listed for sale in 2023 by then-owner Keystone-Florida Holding Corp., the mall was less than 70% leased.
“We are excited to begin this new chapter at Galleria Fort Lauderdale,” says Jim Heilmann, the newly appointed senior general manager for the center. “We look forward to working closely with our retailers and continuing to make the Galleria a place where the community can shop, gather and enjoy memorable experiences together.”
Centennial operates 25 million sq. ft. of mixed-use destinations in 18 states. Among them are Arden Fair (Sacramento, Calif.); Providence Place (Providence, R.I.); (Huntington Beach, Calif.); Pacific City (Huntington Beach, Calif.); MarketFair (Princeton, N.J.), and Chicago’s The Shops at North Bridge.
Liberty Center (Liberty Township, Ohio) and The Summit (Birmingham, Ala.) both placed on Chain Store Age’s 2025 list of Top 10 Retail Center Experiences.
