Celebrity moms help Walmart give away Walmart+ memberships to mothers

Walmart’s new Mother’s Day campaign will boost membership in its Walmart+ paid loyalty program.

In observance of Mother’s Day, Walmart is giving away up to 20,000 free one-year Walmart+ memberships –as part of its new “Mother of All Savings Memberships” campaign. Rapper Cardi B, actress Jenny Slate, comedian Janelle James, and actress Stephanie Beatriz are all participating in the promotion and offering their personal “motherhood hacks.”

The memberships, valued at $98 each, will be distributed to mothers who give birth in hospitals nationwide during the month of May. Walmart is running the membership giveaway is in conjunction with Pampers Hospital Gift Program, which provides a gift bag for patients who have recently delivered a baby. During May 2023, the gift bag will include a free one-year Walmart+ membership, while supplies last.

Customers can also give a Walmart+ membership as a Mother’s Day gift. The ‘Mother of all Savings Memberships’ campaign will start to air on April 24 across social platforms.

“Walmart+ brings together benefits that will help save moms precious time,” said Seth Dallaire, executive VP and chief revenue officer, Walmart. “Whether it's getting diapers delivered straight to their door or saving on gas for the carpool, we’ve got their back. To celebrate moms, we’ve committed to gifting 20,000 Walmart+ memberships to some of our most important customers, making life a little easier for them.”

“The beauty of motherhood is that it brings moms together with a bond regardless of where they are in their lives,” said Courtney Carlson, senior VP of retail marketing, Walmart. “Every mom loves to trade their parenting hacks, and we’re excited for this campaign to showcase the biggest hack of all being 'The Mother of All Savings' -- a Walmart+ membership.”

Walmart adds members to Walmart+

Walmart has bulked up the membership rolls of Walmart+, initially launched in September 2020, with several different promotions since its introduction. In March 2022, Walmart made the program available free to all full- and part-time Walmart U.S. associates working in the company’s stores, distribution centers and fulfillment centers. This added nearly 1.6 million members to the offering.

Walmart also extended free Walmart+ membership to U.S. associates following a promotion for American Express Platinum cardholders it launched in October 2021.
