  • Target shareholders vote on directors, exec compensation

    Investors in Target Corp. decided on several important issues at the retailer’s 2016 annual meeting.

    Shareholders elected 14 members of the board of directors, ratified the appointment of Target’s independent registered public accounting firm, approved proposal on compensation for executives and rejected one shareholder proposal.

  • Report: Ralph Lauren hires away Coach CFO

    Jane Hamilton Nielsen, who just left her position as CFO of Coach Inc. to pursue other opportunities, is not waiting long to make her new role known.

    According to Fortune, Ralph Lauren is expected to announce Nielsen’s hiring as its new CFO. She would replace current Ralph Lauren CFO Robert Madore, who has held that title since April 2015.

  • Walgreens shuffles executive ranks

    Walgreens Boots Alliance is making a number of changes to its senior management roles and responsibilities as part of what the company is calling the “next phase of evolution.”
     
    Alex Gourlay, executive VP of Walgreens Boots Alliance and president of Walgreens, and Ornella Barra, executive VP of Walgreens Boots Alliance and president and chief executive of global wholesale and international retail, have been appointed to the role of co-CEOs.
     

  • Familiar face returns to Under Armour

    A veteran creative executive is coming back to Under Armour in a new role, following a short hiatus.
     
    Dave Dombrow, former Under Armour senior VP, creative footwear and accessories, will return to the brand as chief design officer, beginning Aug. 1, 2016. In his newly created role as chief design officer, Dombrow will guide the design of Under Armour's entire collection of footwear, apparel and accessories.

  • Another retail CFO moves on

    Another day, another finance chief at a well-known retailer is leaving.

    Jane Hamilton Nielsen, CFO at Coach Inc., will be departing the company to pursue another opportunity. In order to facilitate a smooth transition, Nielsen is expected to stay into August 2016. The company is commencing a search for her permanent successor with Crist Kolder Associates. Andrea Shaw Resnick, global head of investor relations and corporate communications, will be appointed interim CFO until a permanent appointment is made.

  • Jo-Ann Stores names veteran exec to omnichannel marketing post

    Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores is promoting Chris DiTullio to senior VP, marketing and omnichannel.

    While at Jo-Ann, DiTullio has served as interim senior VP, marketing; VP, e-commerce and omnichannel; VP, marketing and advertising; VP, inventory management; and director, merchandise planning.

  • Michaels beats Street in Q1; shifts CFO

    Specialty arts and crafts retailer The Michaels Companies Inc. exceeded Wall Street expectations for profit and sales in a generally strong first quarter of fiscal 2016.

    Michaels reported net income of $70.76 million, a 6% increase from $66.74 million the same quarter a year earlier. Improvements in gross profit helped boost net income.
     

  • Walmart shareholders decide on directors, compensation

    Senior management of Walmart Stores Inc. should be happy with the results of its 46th annual shareholders meeting held June 3.
