  • Ralphs caters to So-Cal Jewish community

    A kosher deli and Murray’s Cheese shop will be part of a new 72,000-sq.-ft. Ralph’s Fresh Fare supermarket set to open on Thursday, April 10 in the Los Angeles suburb of Sherman Oaks.

  • Waiting period expires for Signet-Zale purchase

    Hamilton, Bermuda -- Signet Jewelers Limited and Zale Corporation have announced the expiration of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, in connection with the proposed acquisition of Zale by Signet.

    The expiration of the HSR Act waiting period satisfies one of the conditions to the closing of the proposed acquisition, which remains subject to approval by Zale’s stockholders and certain other customary closing conditions.

  • Baybrook Mall’s Texas-scale expansion

    Friendswood, Texas — The 1.2-million-sq.-ft. Baybrook Mall in Houston is getting another 550,000 sq. ft. The mall owner, General Growth Properties, and the landowner, a CDC Houston-managed entity, have formed a joint venture to carry out he project. Work will begin in early May and completed by the 2015 holiday season.

  • Jones Group approves merger with Sycamore

    New York -- The Jones Group Inc. announced that its shareholders overwhelmingly voted to approve the company’s acquisition by Sycamore Partners.

    Under the terms of the deal, Sycamore will acquire Jones for $15.00 per share in cash, or a total transaction value of approximately $2.2 billion.

  • Uniqlo, New York City

    Uniqlo has transformed the second floor of it Fifth Avenue flagship to celebrate the launch of the retailer’s SPRZ NY collection, done in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art. The renovated floor includes the addition of a full-service Starbucks, a first for Uniqlo.

  • Cypress Equities buys Alabama mixed-use center

    DallasCypress Equities has acquired Brookwood Village, a mixed-use development in the affluent Mountain Brook area of Birmingham, Ala.  A fund managed by Cypress’s real estate investment management group carried out the transaction.

    The 816,000-sq.-ft. center consists of a 604,000-sq.-ft., two-level enclosed mall, a 41,900-sq.-ft. grocery-anchored retail component and a nine-story 170,000-sq.-ft. Class A office building.  

  • Brea Mall completes major renovation

    Brea, Calif. — Simon Property Group and Brea Mall are celebrating putting the finishing touches on the renovation of the property with a special community event and a series of showcase weekends throughout April and May.

    The renovation included redesigned mall entrances and new signage, flooring, landscaping, glass handrails and overhead lighting. The mall now displays updated textures, colors and amenities such as soft seating and charging stations.

  • Vallarta Supermarkets opens new California store April 9

    Sylmar, Calif. – A new Vallarta Supermarkets store opens in Hesperia, Calif., on April 9. The 42,000-sq.-ft. location will offer specialty departments including a bakery, full-service meat counter, fresh produce, a hot food deli (Taqueria) with in-store dining, a shuttle service and a customer service department that offers check cashing, money transfers and utility bill payments.
