  • New restaurants open at Miramar Square

    Miramar, Fla. - Boca Raton, Fla.-based Woolbright Development announced that five new restaurants have opened over the last few months at Miramar Square in Miramar, Fla.

    Miramar Square is a 240,000-sq.-ft. shopping center anchored by Kohl’s, Staples and Dollar General.

    The new restaurant openings include Golden Krust Caribbean Grill, L&L Market Bistro/Elle’s, Smitty’s Grill, La Coriana and Giardinos Gourmet Salads.

    Other eateries slated to open in the next months include Coldstone Creamery and Sir Pizza.

  • Isabella to open new restaurant

    Washington, D.C. - Douglas Development announced that Mike Isabella, former executive chef at Mediterranean restaurant  Zaytinya, and Bravo’s Top Chef  contestant, has leased 5,000 sq. ft. in a three-level Douglas Development-owned property at 707 6th Street, NW, in Washington, D.C.

    Isabella will open a two-level Italian-inspired restaurant, Graffiato, in spring 2011.

  • Phillips Edison acquires center in Missouri

    Cincinnati -- Phillips Edison and Co.'s Fund IV announced its acquisition of Marketplace Shopping Center, in Independence, Mo.

    The property was purchased from Centro Properties Group and Ingrid Long and Drew Quinn of Grubb & Ellis represented the Seller on the transaction. The 241,682-sq.-ft shopping center is anchored by Price Chopper.

  • Disney’s Times Square Gambit

    Disney Store has opened its largest and most ambitious store to date -- smack in the middle of Manhattan’s Times Square. The 20,000-sq.ft., two-level Disney emporium is about five times bigger than most Disney stores, with a layout that is divided by the company’s most popular franchises.

  • Skechers opens at Miracle Mile Shops

    Las Vegas -- New York City-based Robert K. Futterman & Associates announced that Skechers has opened inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas.

    Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is a 1.2-mile retail/entertainment complex on the Las Vegas Strip featuring 170 specialty stores, 15 restaurants and three live entertainment venues.

    It is owned by David Edelstein and Aby Rosen, in conjunction with leasing and marketing consultant Robert K. Futterman & Associates LLC.

    Memphis -- Fred's said Tuesday that its third-quarter net income surged 56%, partly because of its improved merchandise mix and remodeled and upgraded stores.
