Laval, Quebec -- Alimentation Couche-Tard, parent of Circle K Stores, has signed an agreement to acquire up to 322 sites, plus an additional 65 reseller contracts, in Southern California, from ExxonMobil Corp. The purchase price was not disclosed.

“These stores are high volume, high impact locations,” Tim Tourek, Couche-Tard’s VP of operations for the west coast division, said in a statement. “They would significantly strengthen our overall footprint in this important market.”

Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges are a headache for commercial tenants of all sizes. Unfortunately, overcharges make the management of CAM expenses a major problem for retail tenants. Responding to the CAM overcharge hot button, the National Retail Tenants Association (NRTA) has once again made CAM management a key topic of its education curriculum of its annual conference planned for this September in Orlando.

Seattle -- REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) will open a store in Indianapolis, Ind. at the Plaza at Castleton next spring.

The approximately 23,800-sq.-ft, store will be the outdoor goods and apparel retailer’s first location in Indiana, and will include a bike shop for quick assemblies and repairs, a seasonal gear rental department, and a community space that will allow REI and its local partners to host classes, presentations and events to educate customers and members on a variety of outdoor topics.

Seattle -- Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) on Friday announced plans to open a new store in Indianapolis at the Plaza at Castleton next spring. The new store will be the outdoor retailer’s first in the state.

The one-story, approximately 23,800-sq.-ft. store is one of 117 stores in 28 states and two online stores -- rei.com and rei-outlet.com.
 

Greeley, Colo. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Greeley, Colo., to T.J. Maxx, which will open a 25,000-sq.-ft. store at Centerplace of Greeley III shopping center.

The 119,000-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by a 42,000-sq.-ft. Sports Authority and a 30,000-sq.-ft. Best Buy.

SEATTLE — Recreational Equipment Inc. announced that it will open its first Indiana store in Indianapolis next spring.

According to the company, the one-story, approximately 23,800 sq.-ft. store will offer products from the top brands of outdoor gear and apparel for camping, climbing, cycling, fitness, hiking, paddling, snow sports and travel. The Indianapolis store will also house a bike shop for quick assemblies and repairs, and a seasonal gear rental department for customers looking to test new activities, REI reported. 

Like many of you, I just got back from RECon, and I’m still processing what I saw and heard. One thing that was interesting to me was the fact that it seemed like burger concepts were on everybody’s site plans, from In-N-Out Burger to Smashburger and Five Guys. If you like a good burger -- and, who doesn’t -- this is great news. If you are a developer or landlord though, I think you should proceed with some caution.

Kansas City, Mo. -- Block Real Estate Services said it has opened an office in Atlanta, to provide asset, property, and construction management services to its current portfolio of commercial properties located in the Atlanta-metropolitan area.
