  • Walmart considering acquiring stake in Turkish retailer

    New York -- A Thursday report by the Financial Times said that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is in discussions with Turkish retailer Migros Ticaret AS to acquire an 80% stake in the company from London-based private equity group BC Partners.

    The Times said that Walmart held meetings with Migros managers in recent days in Turkey but it had not placed a bid for the Turkish retailer. Sources have not been identified and Wal-Mart so far has not commented.

  • BBY founder close to purchasing company

    Former Best Buy chairman Richard Schulze is reportedly close to reaching an agreement to buy the company he founded, according to a Minneapolis Star Tribune report citing a source close to the situation.

  • Vintage Real Estate acquires Heritage Mall

    Albany, Ore. -- Vintage Real Estate announced that the company has acquired Heritage Mall, located in Albany, Ore.

    The 406,500-sq.-ft. mall features more than 50 major retailers, boutiques and restaurants including Target, Sears, Ross Dress for Less and Old Navy, Maurice’s, rue 21, Zumiez, Famous Footwear, Game Stop and Bath & Body Works. It was remodeled in 2006 and is 50% occupied.

  • Baker Storey McDonald acquires Whitesburg Center

    Huntsville, Ala. -- Nashville-based Baker Storey McDonald, an X Team International partner, said it has acquired its first property in Huntsville, Ala. The firm purchased Whitesburg Center for $6.7 million.

    The 51,943-sq.-ft. shopping center is tenanted by Dollar Tree, Mattress Firm, Cheeburger Cheeburger and Baskin Robbins, among others.

    Baker Storey McDonald will manage and lease the center.

     

  • David Yurman, Miu Miu to open at Westfield Valley Fair

    Santa Clara, Calif. -- Westfield announced that David Yurman and Miu Miu will open first-to-market stores at its Westfield Valley Fair property in Santa Clara, Calif. A new Prada boutique will open as well, joining other luxury retailers such as Burberry, Tag Heuer, Wolford, Mont Blanc, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Cartier.  

  • Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to open at City Point Development

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Charter Realty & Development said it has leased 43,842 sq. ft. for an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at the City Point Development in Brooklyn, N.Y.

    Alamo Drafthouse Cinema features an upscale theater-restaurant combination. City Point will have seven screens of new releases, repertory programming and the Alamo’s signature programming with seating for over 900 moviegoers.
     

     

  • Pet Supplies Plus opens at The Shops at Blue Bell

    Blue Bell, Pa. -- North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management Corp. said that Pet Supplies Plus has opened a 7,650-sq.-ft. store at The Shops at Blue Bell, located in Blue Bell, Pa.

    Levin is the exclusive leasing and management agent for the 103,000-sq.-ft. shopping center, which is anchored by Giant supermarket and tenanted by IHOP, Sovereign Bank, GNC, Supercuts and Planet Beach, among others.
     

  • Winick named retail leasing agent for One New York Plaza

    New York -- Winick Realty Group said it has been retained by Brookfield Office Properties to exclusively market the retail concourse at One New York Plaza, in New York City.
